Torrance Officer Cleared in Dorner Mistaken ID Shooting

Posted Image

” A Torrance police officer who opened fire on a pickup truck during the manhunt for former Los Angeles police Officer Christopher Dorner was justified in his actions and will not face any criminal charges, the District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Prosecutors concluded that Officer Brian McGee “did not commit any criminal misconduct” on Feb. 7 of last year when he rammed David Perdue’s truck with a patrol car, then fired three shots through the driver’s side window.”

David Perdue

” According to a charge evaluation worksheet prepared by Deputy District Attorney Geoffrey Rendon, McGee acted reasonably in light of the ongoing search for Dorner, who had killed two people at that point and went on to kill two others — a Riverside police officer and San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy.”

NBC LA has more details of Perdue’s shooting that cast the police and DA in even poorer light and we quote :

” David Perdue is the surfer who was on his way to catch some morning waves last Feb. 7 when he was stopped by Torrance police on the lookout for Christopher Dorner.

After he was cleared by the first set of officers, a second set of officers drove up the street, rammed Perdue’s vehicle and began shooting at his head. He was not hit.

It was only the poor marksmanship of Torrance officer Brian McGee that led to Mr. Perdue being alive today,” said Perdue’s attorney Robert Sheahen.

In the report, the district attorney found that because McGee and his partner, Erin Sooper, were “anxious” and in a state of “panic,” their attempt to kill Mr. Perdue was justified, Sheahen said, adding that investigators never contacted Perdue nor his wife for their accounts about what happened.

” The accounts of McGee and Sooper, while riddled with factual fantasy, were accepted at face value,” Sheahen said. “Panic and anxiety have no place in a police force. This report piles prosecutorial gibberish on top of police lawlessness.” “

It seems that the police are justified in whatever they do whenever they do it as long as it’s in the name of “public safety” . The courts , prosecutors and cops are all on the same side and now it has come down to us versus them . “To protect and serve” has given way to “to provoke and shoot” .

The MyFoxLA report concludes:

” “Nonetheless, given the circumstances, as detailed above, we conclude that Officer McGee was justified in using force to stop the vehicle and in discharging his firearm. Therefore, prosecution in this matter is declined and this office will take no further action.” “

So we are given to understand that if you happen to be driving a vehicle that resembles one that might contain a dangerous fugitive it’s just tough s**t if you are fired upon without warning . We always thought that the rule of law proscribed the practice of shooting first and asking questions later . Foolish us to believe in the Constitution .

Police: French Soldier Stabbed In Neck While On Patrol

” A French soldier who was stabbed Saturday on the western outskirts of Paris was targeted because of his military service, France’s defense minister said.

“The aim was to kill the soldier because he was a soldier,” Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told CNN affiliate BFMTV. The attacker wanted “to kill a soldier who is in charge of French security,” he said.

The soldier was stabbed in the neck from behind with either a knife or a box cutter, a Hauts-de-Seine police spokesman said.

The attacker was wearing a robe and appeared to be North African, said Laurent Lefebvre, a spokesman for Syndicat Alliance Police Nationale, a French police union.”

SWAT officer attracts ridicule after he’s pictured with his rifle sight on backwards

“A SWAT team in upstate New York is being mocked as an example of the difference between military and police training after an officer was captured peering through a backwards sight on his combat rifle.
As users on the military Reddit were quick to point out when the image was posted, the reverse sight makes it effectively useless.
Users mocked the SWAT officers training and some went so far as to question the motives of some of the men serving in local law enforcement.”

Dorner Believed Dead, According To Media Reports

”  A cabin where a fugitive ex-Los Angeles police officer was believed to have barricaded himself burned to the ground Tuesday night and Los Angeles police believe Christopher Dorner is dead, according to media reports.

A charred body was recovered from the ruins, and KTLA television reported that Los Angeles police said they believed it was that of Dorner.

A source in Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s office told NBC News that the police department had confirmed to the mayor that the body was Dorner’s.

Dorner had been on the run since they say he launched a campaign to exact revenge against the Los Angeles Police Department for his firing.”

Ex-LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner Believed To Be Using Prepaid Cellphones

” Authorities said homicide suspect Christopher Dorner may have recently used a prepaid cellphone to call the father of the woman he is accused of killing.

Authorities are investigating whether it was Dorner who made a taunting phone call to retired Los Angeles police Capt. Randal Quan, allegedly telling Quen he should have done a better job protecting his daughter Monica, who was found shot to death more than a week ago.

While you’re on a prepaid phone, Jennex said, the number associated with the phone could be traced using cell towers to triangulate a location. However, Jennex said there’s a big obstacle to doing that.

“The hard part is tracking the user of that number, so since your name isn’t associated with the number, they wouldn’t necessarily find you right off the bat,” Jennex said.

Even if a trace were set up, as former LAPD detective and author Mike Rothmiller told 10News, Dorner would know better than to stay on the phone too long.

“He’s planned for this and he’s a smart man. He knows the tactics of law enforcement and how you can trace phone calls,” said Rothmiller. ”

Women Delivering Newspapers In Torrance Shot In Manhunt For Ex-Cop

” Two women who were shot by Los Angeles police in Torrance early Thursday during a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer were delivering newspapers, sources said.

The women, shot in the 19500 block of Redbeam Avenue, were taken to area hospitals, Torrance police Lt. Devin Chase said. They were not identified. One was shot in the hand and the other in the back, according to Jesse Escochea, who captured video of the victims being treated.

It was not immediately known what newspapers the women were delivering. After the shooting, the blue pickup was riddled with bullet holes and what appeared to be newspapers lay in the street alongside.

Local, state and federal authorities are involved in a massive search for Christoper Jordan Dorner, 33, a former Los Angeles Police Department officer who is believed to have threatened “unconventional and asymmetrical warfare” against police in an online manifesto, and was suspected of shooting three police officers, one of whom died, early Thursday in Riverside County.

Dorner also is suspected of killing a couple in Orange County earlier this week.”

All we can say is , it’s a good thing California has such strick gun control laws , we can’t have inexperienced , armed citizens running around shooting up innocent civilians and the neighborhood can we ?  No , that’s a job for the trained professionals .

Jeez , just look at the photo , and the neighbor’s account … plus or minus 50 shots fired hit three hits , one a flesh wound to the hand .

Meanwhile down the block another wrongful shooting was taking place as well …

” TORRANCE, Calif. — A suspect manhunt led to two mistaken identity police shootings in Torrance within minutes and blocks of each other Thursday.

The first shooting occurred in the 19500 block of Redbeam Avenue at 5:20 a.m.

Authorities said officers came across vehicles similar to the one sought by authorities searching for Christopher Dorner, a former LAPD officer suspected of killing three people.

Dorner, 33, posted a manifesto on Facebook outlining plans to kill the families of those who wronged him. LAPD officers were guarding one of the officers on Dorner’s manifesto hit list when a blue Toyota truck matching the suspect’s vehicle drove up to the scene. Police opened fire and aimed dozens of rounds at the occupants of the truck who they mistakenly believed to be Dorner’s.

Two uninvolved female civilians inside the vehicle were wounded and rushed to local hospitals. One injured female victim suffered a minor bullet wound, and the second female victim was shot twice in the back and reported in stable condition.”

The victims are said to be OK but the barrage of bullets shook residents from their sleep. Howard Lee of Torrance was asleep when he said he heard “about 50 shots.”
