Gun Bill Claim Under Fire

” In a press release and internet video released Feb. 26, Giffords’ group urged Georgians to appeal to the state Senate and Gov. Nathan Deal to defeat the bill.

” Georgia lawmakers are now considering passing the most extreme gun bill in America,” Pia Carusone, the group’s executive director, said in the release.

Knowing the many and varied gun measures that exist or are proposed across the nation, could Georgia really be looking at “the most extreme gun bill in America?” We wondered.”

” We decided  to run the statement through the Truth-O-Meter.

On its website, the National Rifle Association calls HB 875 by state Rep. Rick Jasperse, R-Jasper, “the most comprehensive pro-gun reform legislation introduced in recent state history.”

We began by circling back to Giffords’ group to explain the claim that it is the most extreme legislation out there. Carusone said her group is tracking 200 gun bills in legislatures across the country, many of which “weaken common-sense gun violence prevention policies.” But none of the bills has “as many extreme provisions as we see in this one Georgia bill,” she said.

”  Not only does the bill invite guns into virtually every public space, reversing 100-year-old regulations, it allows teachers to carry guns while teaching class and airplane passengers to attempt to bring guns through (Transportation Security Administration) security without consequence,” Carusone said. “It also would allow guns to be in courthouses. State legislation typically focuses on one of these issues, not all of them.”

Experts we checked with said there’s no evidence that, if the bill passes, Georgia would be considered to have the most lax gun laws. Four states, Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming, don’t even require a permit to carry a concealed weapon, they said.”

Politifact is no rightwing shill so when they are calling out the lies of the anti-gunners we should sit up and take notice . Readers , I’m sure , are aware of the hypocrisy that has been demonstrated by Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly when it comes to the subject of gun control and so should assume that anything that originates with their organization is highly suspect with regard to it’s factuality and this plea against Georgia’s “extreme” 2nd amendment reaffirmation is no exception .

Horrifying Video Shows The Moment Gabby Giffords’ Husband Stops His Daughter’s Bulldog Viciously Attacking A Sea Lion Which Later Died

” A horrifying video has emerged showing an American bulldog belonging to Gabby Giffords’ stepdaughter viciously attacking a baby sea lion on a California beach, eventually killing it.

The Arizona Democrat’s husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, is seen running to the bloody scene and shaking the fatally-injured animal from the dog’s jaws in the amateur video.

The attack happened on Saturday afternoon near the exclusive Goff Cove Beach in Laguna Beach where former Rep. Giffords, her husband and his daughter are staying, Laguna Beach police said.

Authorities told the Los Angeles Times that Kelly and his 18-year-old daughter, the dog’s owner, were walking along the beach when the animal spotted the sea lion and broke free from its leash.

A passerby, Nathan Straw, saw the attack unfold, recorded it on his mobile phone and later provided the video to the Times and KABC-TV.”

Mark Kelly’s ‘AR-15 Stunt’ Provokes Giffords Photo Leak

Grinnin' Gabbie Goes Gunnin'

” (Breitbart) – Mark Kelly’s campaign against “assault weapons” such as the AR-15 rifle has sparked a local backlash. On March 13, a Tucson, Arizona radio host published a photograph of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords holding an AR-15 rifle at a gun range. Giffords has since confirmed that the photograph is authentic.

James T. Harris, blogging at the website of “101.4 FM The Truth,” wrote:

What is wrong with this picture? Absolutely nothing, and prior to the aggressive progressive opportunistic fear mongering in the wake of Sandy Hook, this picture would have raised no eyebrows and garnered little public attention.”

Update : Here’s a second picture of Gabbie , armed with the dreaded AK this time :

Political Correctness Gone Wild

” Kelly responded that he went into the gun store with a plan to buy a .45, “and if we had the opportunity, to buy the AR-15 as well.” He said he didn’t “know the timing,” but he and his people “had a plan for when [they] were going to announce it on Facebook.”

Attention to this issue has been intense, because Kelly bought the AR-15 on March 5 but did not announce that he was turning it over to Tucson PD until three days later.

During the interview, Kelly criticized the AR-15 as a “deadly” weapon “designed for the military” – one which people can buy too easily. But it is unclear what it proves if Kelly, a man with an apparently immaculate record, does not trigger any red flags in a gun purchase background check.”

” Kelly reportedly bought the AR-15 and a 1911-style semi-automatic pistol at a gun store in Tucson, Arizona.

Breitbart News received a tip on this when Neil McCabe, editor of Guns & Patriots newsletter, contacted us on March 7 and said:

Mark E. Kelly, made purchases which included an AR-15–sometimes described as an “assault rifle”–at 3:30 pm on the afternoon of March 5 at Diamondback Police Supply, 170 S. Kolb Street, Tucson, AZ.

According to McCabe, witnesses to the purchases claimed Kelly purchased “high capacity” magazines as well.

On March 6, McCabe contacted Kelly’s gun control group–“Americans for Responsible Solutions”–and on March 8 they replied that his message had been passed on to colleagues who handle press requests. Breitbart News then began investigating the details surrounding the purchase, including visiting the gun store.

Suddenly, Kelly announced on his Facebook page that he was not going to keep the AR-15, which he has yet to pick up from the store.

Days after making the purchases, Kelly wrote on Facebook:

I just had a background check a few days ago when I went to my local gun store to buy a .45. As I was leaving, I noticed a used AR-15. Bought that too. Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes. I don’t have possession of it yet but I’ll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do.”

Is Gabby Giffords the New Jim Brady?

” On Tuesday, Giffords and her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, launched their new gun-control campaign, Americans for Responsible Solutions, which will raise money and lobby on behalf of controlling gun violence. In announcing the group, and in the aftermath of the Connecticut shooting that left 20 children and six adults dead, Giffords simply told ABC News’s Diane Sawyer, “Enough.”

Her husband amplified her thoughts. “I’m hopeful that this time is different, and I think it is,” he said in an interview set to air on Tuesday night. “Twenty first-graders being murdered in their classrooms is a very personal thing for everybody.”

The clout and emotional appeal that Giffords carries, even two years after the shooting and despite a difficult recovery, is apparent. From her appearance at the Democratic National Convention in September to her statements at the trial of her would-be assassin, Jared Loughner, in November, she remains a powerful presence. ”

Oh the left and their symbols . It is the only way they can manage to persuade anyone of their self-righteousness and have their way . Unfortunately for those of us who value reason as the desired standard of discourse the modern media age is tailor made for knee-jerk emotionalism .

The Oprahfication of American society is well on it’s way to ruining us all . Whether it rears it’s ugly head as the current war on boys and boyhood , the steadily growing government-facilitated dependence on the State , the current predilection to medicate our children into zombie-hood or the fact that one can’t make a move in this current environment without being pummeled silly under the impact of lawyers , the legal profession and “the authorities”  in general , it all adds up to the same thing … the sissification of America in the name of ” progress”  and  a plea to the emotions and not the head .

If you want further proof of my insinuations look no further than the current political class and the bureaucrats riding their coattails . See any Andrew Jackson’s ? Any George Washington’s ? Any Teddy Roosevelt’s ? No , of course not . Why is that ? America in a few brief centuries has produced more great men and women than any nation would have a right to expect , but when did that species of American become extinct ?
