States Rise Up Against Washington

” State legislators around the country have introduced more than 200 bills aiming to nullify regulations and laws coming out of Washington, D.C., as they look to rein in the federal government.

The legislative onslaught, which includes bills targeting federal restrictions on firearms, experimental treatments and hemp, reflects growing discord between the states and Washington, state officials say.

“ You have a choice,” said Kentucky state Rep. Diane St. Onge (R). “To sit back and not do anything or say anything and let overregulation continue — or you have the alternative choice to speak up about it and say, ‘We know what you are doing or intend to do and we do not think that it is constitutional and we as a state are not going to stand for it.’ ”

Last month, St. Onge introduced H.B. 13 to nullify federal gun control laws within Kentucky state lines. Similar legislation has been introduced in seven other states.

“ This law is saying the sheriff and those under him do not have to follow federal regulations,” she said.

Friction between the states and the federal government dates back to the nation’s earliest days. But there has been an explosion of bills in the last year, according to the Los Angeles-based Tenth Amendment Center, which advocates for the state use of nullification to tamp down on overzealous regulation.

People are becoming more and more concerned about the overreach of the federal government,” said center spokesman Mike Maharrey. “They feel the federal government is trying to do too much, it’s too big and it’s getting more and more in debt.” “

Made To Order

” With all that we’ve read on new applications for 3D printing in medicine, it can be a challenge to know which breakthroughs are really worth noting. To sift through the noise, we chatted with physician and entrepreneur Dr. Daniel Kraft (who chairs the annual Exponential Medicine conference) about the state of 3D printing. Below is a round-up covering his views on the latest and greatest advances in 3D printing and their applications for healthcare: “

Measles Vaccine Wipes Out Cancer In Groundbreaking Test

” Researchers at the Mayo Clinic have completed a groundbreaking new test: They knocked widespread blood cancer into remission with a single massive blast of measles vaccine.

Stacy Erholtz, who was suffering from an advanced stage of blood cancer, recovered thanks to an intravenous injection of the measles virus, which was sufficient to overwhelm the cancer’s natural defenses, the StarTribune reports.

As far as clinical trials go, this was a small test because it only had two subjects. But lead researcher Dr. Stephen Russell told StarTribune it’s a promising start.

“ It’s a landmark. We’ve known for a long time that we can give a virus intravenously and destroy metastatic cancer in mice. Nobody’s shown that you can do that in people before,” he said. “

As Health Care Gets More Bureaucratic, Will Doctors Go Galt?

” I am a general surgeon with more than three decades in private clinical practice. And I am fed up. Since the late 1970s, I have witnessed remarkable technological revolutions in medicine, from CT scans to robot-assisted surgery. But I have also watched as medicine slowly evolved into the domain of technicians, bookkeepers, and clerks.

Government interventions over the past four decades have yielded a cascade of perverse incentives, bureaucratic diktats, and economic pressures that together are forcing doctors to sacrifice their independent professional medical judgment, and their integrity. The consequence is clear: Many doctors from my generation are exiting the field. Others are seeing their private practices threatened with bankruptcy, or are giving up their autonomy for the life of a shift-working hospital employee. Governments and hospital administrators hold all the power, while doctors—and worse still, patients—hold none.”

NEW DRUG COULD HELP HUMANS LIVE TO BE 150

” Drugs that could combat ageing and help people to live to 150-years-old may be available within five years, following landmark research.

The new drugs are synthetic versions of resveratrol which is found in red wine and is believed to have an anti-ageing effect as it boosts activity of a protein called SIRT1.

Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline has been testing the medications on patients suffering with medical conditions including cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

The work proves that a single anti-ageing enzyme in the body can be targeted, with the potential to prevent age-related diseases and extend lifespans.

As each of the 117 drugs tested work on the single enzyme through a common mechanism is means that a whole new class of anti-ageing drugs is now viable, which could ultimately prevent cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and type 2 diabetes.

Genetics professor David Sinclair, based at Harvard University, said: ‘Ultimately, these drugs would treat one disease, but unlike drugs of today, they would prevent 20 others.

‘In effect, they would slow ageing.’ “

Prepper Tips :How To Get Antibiotics Without Seeing A Doctor

” There are currently four ways to purchase antibiotics without first obtaining a prescription. You may drive to Mexico, buy them online, buy them in an ethnic market, or buy them in a pet store. Based on availability, this writer will focus on buying antibiotics in a pet store.

pharmacist explains that it is a bad idea for people to take veterinary medicines but that chemically the drugs are the same as what you would be prescribed by a doctor and purchase in a pharmacy. Amoxicillin, ampicillin, tetracycline, cephalexin, metronidazole and erthromycin are all available online to purchase without a prescription if you buy them as “fish antibiotics”. The aforementioned pharmacist visited numerous pet stores and located most of those antibiotics in the stores, although they were in liquid gel drops or powders. These antibiotics were available in pill form from the chain pet store’s websites “

What happened to , ” first do no harm ” ? Here come the ” Death Panels “ . Can’t say we weren’t warned .

” The case ended up in court. Justifying their desired imposition on the family, the doctors testified in a written affidavit: “It is as certain as anything ever is in medicine that he will never recover any degree of consciousness,” Wrong.
Hassan later woke up and became reactive to the point that he can now give a “thumbs up”
when asked how he is doing. ”

” Not so fast. Futile Care Theory has been pushed quietly by bioethicists in this country for years. Indeed, many, if not most, hospitals have
promulgated some form of internal futile care protocol.
Not only that, but many states — most notably Texas — legally grant hospitals the statutory right to refuse wanted life-sustaining
treatment. “
