Scientific Consensus That 2014 Was Record Hottest Year? NO

2014 Temps Global

” So the results are in. The main US global-temperature scorekeepers – NASA and the NOAA – say that last year was definitely the hottest year on record. But they’ve been contradicted by a highly authoritative scientific team, one actually set up to try an establish objective facts in this area.

On the face of it, there’s no dispute. The NASA and NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) statement says:

The year 2014 ranks as Earth’s warmest since 1880, according to two separate analyses by NASA and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) scientists.

 Open and shut, right?

But in fact, detecting a global average temperature rise – of less than a degree since the 1880s, as all sides agree – among thousands upon thousands of thermometer readings from all over the world and spanning more than a century is no simple matter. The temperature at any given location is surging up and down by many degrees each day and even more wildly across a year. It can be done, across a timescale of decades, but trying to say that one year is hotter or colder than the next is to push the limits of statistics and the available data. This sort of thing is why the battle over global temperatures tends to be so hotly debated.

A few years ago, a new dataset was established called the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project. It was intended to address various issues raised by climate skeptics: but in fact it has plumped down firmly on the warmist side of the debate, saying that in fact there are no undue biases in the temperature records, changes in the Sun do not have any major climate effects, and so on.

Now, however, the BEST boffins have broken ranks with the NASA/NOAA/UK Met Office climate establishment and bluntly contradicted the idea that one can simply say “2014 was the hottest year on record”. According to BEST’s analysis (pdf):

Our best estimate for the global temperature of 2014 puts it slightly above (by 0.01 C) that of the next warmest year (2010) but by much less than the margin of uncertainty (0.05 C). Therefore it is impossible to conclude from our analysis which of 2014, 2010, or 2005 was actually the warmest year.

That may seem like not such a big deal, but it is really. At the moment the big debate in this area is about the “hiatus” – has global warming been stalled for the last fifteen-years-plus, or not? “

The Scandal Of Fiddled Global Warming Data

” When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data, shows it to have been warming at a rate equivalent to more than 3 degrees centigrade per century.”

Feds Try To Mail $400K Drone To Themselves, Send It To The Wrong Guy

” The National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently tried to mail a drone from an Air Force base in Florida to one of its own animal sanctuaries in Massachusetts. A fairly simple procedure, you might assume, but also one that involves some pretty clear oversight since the remote-controlled device in question is worth upward of $400,000.”

Drone In Mail

” Somehow, one of the boxes of parts was delivered to the wrong address.

” I wasn’t expecting a freaking drone,” explained the lucky guy who received a free Puma All Environment Unmanned Aircraft yesterday along with some weight-lifting equipment he ordered from Amazon. He goes by the alias “Seventy_Seven” on Reddit, and there isn’t much known about him besides the fact he’s a college student nowhere near Massachusetts and has no time for aquatic wildlife monitoring equipment since he’s busy getting ripped on his new bench set.”

Data Shows Dramatically Less, Not More, Extreme Weather In 2013

” The problem is that 2013 is proving to be among the years with the fewest number of tornados on record, according to data compiled by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla.

According to an Oct. 18 SI analysis, “the good news is that weather-related disasters in the U.S. are all way down this year, compared to recent years, and, in some cases, down to historically low levels.”

There were fewer wildfires in 2013, as well as fewer days with 100 degree or higher temperatures and fewer hurricanes.”

Island Of Debris The Size Of TEXAS From 2011 Japanese Tsunami Is Headed Straight For The U.S.

Slowly but surely: The Texas-sized trash island is floating to the northeast of Hawaii after over two years of sailing across the Pacific

” A floating island of debris the size of Texas has been crossing the vast Pacific Ocean to the western shores of the Americas since a devastating tsunami inundated Japan in 2011, says a new study.

Five million tons of wreckage – the remains of homes, boats, and other remnants of shattered lives in eastern Japan – were swallowed by the ocean that day in March, and more than one million tons of flotsam continues to head towards the west coast of the US.”

” While the first documented debris from the tragedy has already been found in California, scientists fear these new findings mean there could be a lot more to come and it might arrive all at once.”

Divers almost end up in mouths of large whale

” Two Central California divers plunged into the food chain recently—and nearly ended up in the mouths of lunge-feeding humpback whales.

The divers were Shawn Stamback and Francis Antigua. They were part of a SloDivers charter that had just been scuba diving at Souza Rock, two miles off Morro Bay.

Stamback said they were merely passing time before the next scuba dive by snorkeling among sardines and other life in the area. They had cameras and a safety rope, and hoped to get shots of humpbacks in the distance.”

Tsunami hit East Coast in June? Scientists say maybe.

” A tsunami may have made landfall on the US East Coast earlier in June, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Tuesday. A strong storm moved through the region and offshore that day, and scientists were trying to determine if it played a role in a possible tsunami.

Tsunami-like conditions were observed June 13 at more than 30 tide gauges along the East Coast, Bermuda and Puerto Rico, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Tuesday. The highest peak amplitude was recorded in Newport, Rhode Island, where it reached just under 12 inches (304 millimeters) above sea level.”

Unique Animals Found At East Coast Methane Seep

Collecting animals

” While surveying the seafloor last fall, a research vessel spotted bubbles rising from the depths.

Now, another ship has gone back to investigate, and found a variety of life on the seafloor surrounding a methane seep, according to an update from researchers with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

On May 8, the NOAA ship Ron Brown deployed an unmanned sub named Jason to the seafloor offshore Virginia. The sub came upon patches of white bacteria that can harness energy by breaking down methane and are a dead giveaway that leaking natural gas is likely to be found nearby. It encountered the seep at a depth of 1 mile (1.6 kilometers), the vehicle’s deepest dive.

The submarine snapped photos of a spider crab and other unidentified fish surrounding the methane seep. The vehicle also took samples of soil and live mussels that scientists will later analyze in order to better understand life from the abyss. SANDY AND STORM SURGE POSE
‘WORST CASE SCENARIO’

image

” The projected storm surge from
Hurricane Sandy is a “worst case
scenario” with devastating waves and tides predicted for the highly
populated New York City metro area, government forecasters said Sunday. The more they observe it, the more the experts worry about the water -which usually kills and does moredamage than winds in hurricanes.

In this case, seas will be amped up
by giant waves and full-moon-
powered high tides. That will
combine with drenching rains,
triggering inland flooding as the
hurricane merges with a winter
storm system that will worsen it and
hold it in place for days. “

“Make your own Michael Mann hockey stick at home”

image

“Following yesterday’s first look at emails from the 2 year effort to get NOAA to release emails from FOIA requests, where we learn that some scientists felt ‘ Hit on the head with a hockey stick ’ and that “The paleodata always got a lot more attention from the general public
than it deserved.”

There’s a great article today at SPPI today  Michael Mann — the ghost of climate past which summarizes the whole hockey
stick affair quite well. It draws heavily on a post from May of this year on PJ Media by Rand Simberg titled The Deathof the Hockey Stick?

“Who Does The Government Intend To Shoot?”

“The Social Security Administration (SSA) confirms that it is purchasing 174 thousand rounds of hollow point bullets to be delivered to
41 locations in major cities across the U.S. No one has yet said what the purpose of these purchases is, though we are led to believe that
they will be used only in an emergency to counteract and control civil unrest. Those against whom the hollow point bullets are to be used — those causing the civil unrest — must be American citizens; since the SSA has never been used overseas to help foreign countries maintain control of their citizens.

What would be the target of these 174, 000 rounds of hollow point bullets? It can’t simply be to control demonstrators or rioters. Hollow
point bullets are so lethal that the Geneva Convention does not allow their use on the battle field in time of war. Hollow point bullets don’t just stop or hurt people, they penetrate the body, spread out, fragment and cause maximum damage to the body’s organs. Death
often follows.

Potentially each hollow nose bullet represents a dead American. If so, why would the U.S. government want the SSA to kill 174,000 of our citizens, even during a time of civil unrest? Or is
the purpose to kill 174,000 of the nation’s military and replace them with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) special security forces, forces loyal to the Administration, not to the
Constitution? “

Why does SSA and NOAA need ammo ?

” First the Department of Homeland Security ordered 450 MILLION rounds of ammunition , then the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) submitted an order
for 46,000 rounds of high powered ammo, and now Business Insider reports that the Social Security Administration is asking to
purchase 174,000 rounds of .357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point bullets. ”

There is something rotten afoot . Does anyone wonder why our domestic law enforcement agencys seem to be preparing for war ?
