Cop Pulls Assault Rifle, Threatens Protesters For Their ‘Constitutional Bullsh**’

” A Houston, Texas cop was recently caught on video illegally detaining protesters and threatening them with his department-issued assault rifle. His reason? Protesters were spouting what he called “Constitutional bullsh**.”

The video was recorded by Open Carry Texas and uploaded to their YouTube channel after a recent peaceful assembly where they advocated for “Constitutional Carry,” which is already legal in Texas when it comes to rifles of any sort.”

New Texas Governor Says He’ll Sign Open Carry Bill

” The Lone Star State’s new governor-elect, Greg Abbott (R), fresh from his landslide victory, promised that he would sign an open-carry bill into law if it reaches his desk.

Abbott, former state attorney general, bested his Democratic opponent Wendy Davis this week and is slated to take office in 2015. A repeated promise he had made while campaigning for his new job in Austin would be to approve an open carry bill if given the opportunity.

“ Throughout the campaign I announced my support for open carry in Texas,” Abbott told the San Antonio Express-News.  “If an open carry bill is passed by the House and Senate and arrives at my desk I will sign it into law.”

Citing that many states already have similar legislation enacted, his should not be an exception, saying, “If open carry is good enough for Massachusetts, it’s good enough for the state of Texas.”

Since the 19th century, it has been illegal for Texans to carry modern handguns outside of their home, which was only modified in 1995 when the state adopted a concealed carry statute. This leaves lawful gun owners in the state who do not carry concealed with a permit the option of either arming themselves with a primitive black-powder handgun or a long arm such as a rifle or shotgun.”

Open Carry Texas Protests SAPD

” Dozens of armed San Antonians gathered outside the San Antonio Police Department’s west substation Sunday to protest the treatment of one of their members by officers and to take aim at a controversial city law.

On March 31, Henry Vichique was walking home with his loaded rifle slung over his shoulder. Someone called 911 and when police arrived they asked the 19-year-old to put his weapon down. Vichique did not comply with the order and officers used a Taser to subdue him.

“ I kept (the rifle) on me. I did not want to make any attempt to look like I may be aggressive because they could have shot me on site,” Vichique said. “I just told them I was within my rights. I didn’t argue with them.”

This is a continuation of Mr Vichique’s story and brings to light a widespread problem that is being addressed in some states like Kansas and needs to be dealt with nationwide .

For readers unfamiliar with Mr Vichique’s run-in with the San Antonio PD we invite you to view our post from last week and view the video of the arrest made by Mr Vichiques which is posted below …

Officer Tells Texas Man Openly Carrying Rifle He’s ‘Free to Go’ – It’s Hard To Believe What Happened Just Two Minutes Later

” A San Antonio man was reportedly arrested while openly carrying his rifle while on a walk near his home on Monday. The incident, which was video recorded by the gun owner, started out as a calm and reasonable conversation but ended dramatically with cops tasing the man before they put him in handcuffs.

“ I’m not doing anything wrong, sir,” Vichique replies to the command.

One of the officers then claimed they received complaints that he was “pointing” his rifle at people. Vichique denied pointing his gun at anyone and informed officers that his rifle was loaded.

After several minutes of chatting between Vichique and a reasonable-sounding officer, it seemed as if the situation would be diffused and the gun owner would be sent on his way.

“ You are not under arrest. You are free to go,” the cop says in the video. “You’re just going to happen to walk home, and I’m just going to happen to make sure you get home safely — and as soon as you get home safely, you will never see us again.”

Then the situation took an unexpected turn.

A short time later, another officer inserted himself into the situation and took a more aggressive approach. A few minutes before the more assertive officer arrived, another officer can be heard confirming that the “sarg” was on his way.

“ We are going to take that gun off your shoulder, do you understand that?” the officer is heard saying. “Do you understand that?” “

Parade Marchers, Soldiers Banned From Carrying Rifles During Local Parade For First Time in 100+ Years

Belton_Texas

” In Belton, TX, the 4th of July parade is an event with deep and long standing traditions. Since 1850 the town has held an annual parade to celebrate Independence Day. For much of that history, Color Guards and, more recently, civil war re-enactors have marched in the parade with slung or carried rifles.

This year will be different. After the organization, Open Carry Texas, signed up (and was approved) to march in the parade with their rifles, the insurance company is now saying all guns will be disallowed – if the parade wants to keep its insurance that is.”
