Oregon Miners Call For Peaceful Protest Against Federal Government After Enlisting Militia Groups

” Owners of a gold mining claim in southern Oregon who enlisted armed activists to guard the mine amid a land dispute with the federal government plan a peaceful protest this week but want to avoid a standoff.

A co-owner of the Sugar Pine Mine, Rick Barclay, called in armed guards from the conservative Oath Keepers activist group after federal officials served him with a stop-work order last month for failing to comply with federal regulations.

Federal officials said in a letter to the owners they needed to file plans for the gold mining and equipment on the land or cease operations. The miners argue they have exclusive surface rights and do not have to follow federal regulations.

Mine spokesman Kerby Jackson said the miners were now calling for a “peaceful protest” at local Oregon Bureau of Land Management offices around Oregon on Thursday. Jackson said the owners were meeting with their attorney on Monday.

“ We are calling on all miners, loggers, farmers/ranchers and freedom lovers everywhere who are tired of government abuse to tell the BLM … that they are sick to death of the way that they have been conducting themselves,” the Sugar Pine Mine website said.”

Stolen Home Found: Entire House Just A Few Miles Away, Sold To New Owner

” The mystery of the stolen home is solved — kind of. The building was found a few miles away from the scene of the crime. Still many questions remain: when was the house moved? Who moved it? And most importantly, who owns the home to begin with?

As previously reported on the Inquisitr, an entire house (not a mobile home, or a motor home) was stolen. The home was 1,200 square feet, yet the burglars managed to take it right off the street in Klamath County, Oregon. Luckily, no one was living inside at the time.

The original police complaint was filed on Tuesday. When people heard the audacious tale of a whole house being taken, the story went viral.

The news quickly got around to local residents, who recognized the house and knew where it was parked.”

Telemarketer’s Call Saves Woman Being Attacked 900 Miles Away

” Telemarketers can be annoying for many, but for one Oregon woman, it saved her from a vicious attack.

Trace Gallagher reported on “The Real Story” about a Las Vegas telemarketer with Americare Health and Nutrition who was making a sales call and ended up hearing a woman being attacked 900 miles away from the call center.

Gallagher said that the woman didn’t know the phone was ringing when the call was accidentally picked up from her pocket. The telemarketer alerted Tina Garcia, a supervisor at the call center, about the victim’s screams for help.

” It was very very frightening,” Garcia said. “That young lady was helpless. You could actually hear the blows as if he was hitting a punching bag and she was terrified.”

Garcia called the Lynn County Sheriff and gave officials the victim’s phone number who tracked it to a home.

Gallagher reported that when officials arrived to the home, they found the suspect, Walter Ruck, behind the victim with his hands around her neck.

Ruck was arrested and is facing charges for assault and strangulation. “

“Peaceful Protesters” Disrupt Ceremony For 100 Yr Old War Veteran

” 100 year old U.S. Navy veteran Dario Raschio was scheduled to receive some long overdue medals for his service in World War II this weekend at a town hall in Portland, Oregon arranged by Senator Ron Wyden. The veteran of five campaigns in the Pacific Theatre was the subject of many stories, having done multiple observational flight runs, taken gunfire from the Japanese and even being shot down once, finding himself stranded in shark filled waters. The multiple medals he was to receive were all in recognition of various aspects of his service to our nation. Unfortunately, before the proceedings could get fully underway, things took a turn.

While the disrespect shown for Mr. Raschio is beyond the pale, this is fairly characteristic of the latest rounds of anti-cop, “peaceful protests” going on around the country. One of the defining characteristics of these schemes is that they are so completely outside the realm of the issue they are purportedly out there to correct. If you are angered about perceived injustice by police against minorities, what could that possibly have to do with Mr. Raschio? This theme is repeated in the so called Black Brunch protests in Oakland and New York City this weekend. Protesters invaded various businesses to disrupt service and dining in what they referred to as “white spaces.” “

” Michael and April Wolber had picked the perfect place for their wedding, Rock Springs Ranch in Oregon. They couldn’t wait for an idyllic outdoor wedding with all their friends and family.

Except when their ceremony began on Saturday, firetrucks pulled up, warning the wedding party that the Two Bulls wildfire was heading straight for them at a dangerous pace.”

After they both said "I do," Michael, April, and their friends and family rushed off to their back-up location safely.

” So, as firefighters looked on, Michael and April rushed through their vows in half-time, racing to make sure they were able to have their dream wedding in their perfect place.

Western Lawmakers Gather In Utah To Talk Federal Land Takeover

federal-land-map-1024x8411

” It’s time for Western states to take control of federal lands within their borders, lawmakers and county commissioners from Western states said at Utah’s Capitol on Friday.

More than 50 political leaders from nine states convened for the first time to talk about their joint goal: wresting control of oil-, timber -and mineral-rich lands away from the feds.

” It’s simply time,” said Rep. Ken Ivory, R-West Jordan, who organized the Legislative Summit on the Transfer for Public Lands along with Montana state Sen. Jennifer Fielder. “The urgency is now.” “

Federal Lands

” Utah House Speaker Becky Lockhart, R-Provo, was flanked by a dozen participants, including her counterparts from Idaho and Montana, during a press conference after the daylong closed-door summit. U.S. Sen. Mike Lee addressed the group over lunch, Ivory said. New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington also were represented.

The summit was in the works before this month’s tense standoff between Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management over cattle grazing, Lockhart said.

” What’s happened in Nevada is really just a symptom of a much larger problem,” Lockhart said.

Fielder, who described herself as “just a person who lives in the woods,” said federal land management is hamstrung by bad policies, politicized science and severe federal budget cuts.

“Those of us who live in the rural areas know how to take care of lands,” Fielder said, who lives in the northwestern Montana town of Thompson Falls.”

Disabled Ex-Air Force Sergeant Says Federal Security Officers Tased Him At Downtown Portland Office

DAV Office Portland

” A former U.S. Air Force sergeant is suing the federal government and four federal officers for allegedly tasing him several times and striking him in the head and back as he tried to go through security at a downtown Portland office for an appointment.

William Bayes, 47, was wearing a brace on each knee and using a cane at the time of the alleged December 2012 assault by four Federal Protective Service officers, the federal lawsuit states. Bayes, who suffers from service-related post-traumatic stress disorder, had an appointment that day with the Disabled American Veterans office in the building at Southwest First Avenue and Southwest Main Street, according to the complaint.

The problems started when Bayes arrived at the Disabled Veterans’ second-floor office, which is housed within the regional office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The following account comes from the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Portland.

Family Calls 911 After Being Trapped & “Terrorized” By Their Cat

Cat Attack

” A fat cat with a bad attitude attacked a baby and forced a Portland family to hide in a bedroom before calling 911.

Police were called out to deal with the crazed kitty at The Yards at Union Station complex on Northwest Naito Parkway just before 8 p.m. Sunday.

The man who called 911 told the dispatcher the cat “went over the edge,” and was charging at them every time they opened the door. Lee Palmer, his girlfriend, Teresa Barker and their son, Jesse, were taking cover in the bedroom.

” He’s trying to attack us,” he said. “He’s very, very, very, very hostile.”

Oregon Man Arrested After Allegedly Talking About Guns On Bus

” On Tuesday, 41-year-old Patrick O’Brien Nolin found himself on the wrong side of the law after he allegedly spoke about having a loaded gun on a bus in Portland, Ore., KATU reported.

According to KATU, a TriMet bus driver reportedly overheard Nolin allegedly talking about being armed, and contacted police.

As officers approached the bus, they received reports that Nolin’s alleged weapon was “cocked and loaded.”

Even though Nolin did not have a gun, he was arrested anyway, and taken to the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Interfering With Public Transportation, a Class A misdemeanor.”

The New USA? Secession Movement Gains Steam

” If you mention the word “secession” most people think of the South during the Civil War. But today, a new movement is gaining steam because of frustration over a growing, out-of-control federal government.

A number of conservative, rural Americans are taking about seceding and creating their own states, meaning a new map of the United States of America could include the following:

These are real movements gaining traction with voters across the country. Jeffrey Hare runs the 51st State Initiative in Colorado, an effort to fight an out-of-control legislature trying to ram big government policies down the throats of voters.

” We’re at this point of irreconcilable differences,” Hare told CBN News.

Secessionist talk has filled town hall meetings and the divide discussed is not just ideological.

” It’s predominately left versus right, but it’s urban versus rural because you typically find more typical conservative values in rural America,” Hare said.”

For more information on the burgeoning secessionist movement and links to the organizations leading the charge you can go to uniondissolved.com and see what is happening in all of the states . The depth and breadth of discontent may surprise you . Obama may turn out to have been quite prescient when he said …

Wikipedia offers this list of U.S. state partition proposals which numbers 36 and includes current and past efforts , while this link to the Middlebury Institute provides links to secessionist movements most of which are aimed at creating independent republics as opposed to adding to the states of the US .

” This is a list of official or otherwise noteworthy proposals for dividing existing US states into multiple states. It does not specifically address statewide or other movements to secede from the United States. The word secession can refer to political separation at different levels of government organization, from city to state to country; this list focuses on secession from (rather than by) U.S. states, particularly to form new U.S. states.

Article IV of the United States Constitution provides for the creation of new states of the Union, requiring that any such creation be approved by the legislature of the affected state(s), as well as the United States Congress.

Since the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, four states have been created from parts of an existing state: Maine (from Massachusetts), West Virginia (from Virginia), Kentucky(also from Virginia), and Vermont (from New York and New Hampshire)—though New York’s claim to Vermont was weak, as it was asked for its consent and Vermont was essentially an independent republic until 1791.”

Woman Goes On Meth Fueled Joy Ride In Stolen Police Cruiser

Meth Head Woman Stolen Cop Car

” Tara Elizabeth Axmaker, high on meth, stabbed a man in the back in the wee hours of March 15, 2013, at a Mulino-area home.

When Clackamas County deputies arrived, they found the bloody victim but no Axmaker.

As deputies scoured the crime scene, Axmaker climbed behind the wheel of a responding deputy’s patrol car and led the cops on a “Dukes of Hazzard” pursuit down back roads and around blind curves.

The chase, and Axmaker’s expletive-filled running commentary, was captured on the patrol car’s video cameras and on police radio.

She drove without headlights at speeds that hit 121 mph, finally driving off Oregon 213 as she careened toward Molalla.

Miraculously, no one was injured as Axmaker meandered into the oncoming traffic lane, ignored stop signs and evaded her pursuers.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office released the video this week in response to a public records request submitted in October by The Oregonian.

Axmaker pleaded guilty Oct. 15 in Clackamas County Circuit Court to first-degree assault for the attack and to aggravated theft and attempting to elude police. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Throughout the 11-minute ride, Axmaker can be heard on singing, swearing and carrying on an incoherent monologue. The audio is sometimes muffled, because Axmaker was sitting on the microphone.

“We’re on a high-speed chase (expletive),” she said as she began her misadventure.”

Medicaid Expansion Brings Latest Unpleasant Surprise From Obamacare

” Now we have the latest in the long and growing list of unpleasant “surprises” about the Affordable Care Act.

It turns out that expansion of Medicaid coverage for low-income Americans increases rather than decreases visits to hospital emergency rooms.

According to just-released results of a new study published in the journal Science based on 10,000 low-income residents in Oregon newly covered by Medicaid, emergency room visits were 40 percent higher than those with no insurance at all.

It was supposed to be the opposite. Supposedly, a big driver of our high expenditures in health care has been due to those without insurance going to emergency rooms.

So get more of these folks covered with government health insurance, they stop going to the emergency room, and we all save money. Right? Wrong.”

Milwaukie Woman Pulls Gun On Intruder

” An intruder in Milwaukie tried to break into a home after he had already walked into two other apartments and had a gun pulled on him Friday night.

The man was captured on surveillance video walking up to a home and looking through a window at children playing with their babysitter. The man is then seen trying to open the door and get inside. When he discovers the door is locked, he takes off.

Before trying to get in the home, the man had reportedly walked in two other apartments. In one, he followed Crystal McKinney upstairs and inside.”

The armed citizen is the greatest deterrent to crime , of that there is no doubt . Criminals have little to fear from the police and everything to fear if they know that their potential victims are not defenseless sheep . Kudos to Ms McKinney for having the gun handy and for being confident enough of her abilities to use it in her own and our defense . We say “our” defense even though we live thousands of miles from her town in Oregon because every successful defense against the criminal class by law-abiding citizens makes all of us safer .

The progressive trend of deferring to the police and disarming the public over the past couple generations , which thankfully is receding , has been a major cause of the rise in crime . When criminals have no fear of consequences crime proliferates . When thugs fear for their safety they go elsewhere or pay a price . We are all better off for Ms McKinney’s actions and for that we thank her .

Number Of Obamacare Enrollments Through Oregon’s State Exchange:

Zero. Still.

” Yes, this is a deja vu headline.  The Associated Press in late October:

A month after Oregon’s problem-plagued online health insurance marketplace has failed to enroll a single person, concerns are mounting that some of the most vulnerable Oregonians may face a break in coverage if they don’t enroll within the next month and a half.

Oregonians were told state officials were making “significant progress.”  It’s now mid-November.  Back over to youAssociated Press:

With a reputation as a pacesetter in health care, Oregon laid out bold plans for complying with the federal overhaul. The state wouldn’t just create a health insurance exchange, a complicated undertaking in its own right. Oregon officials set out to build one of the biggest and best in the nation — a model that other states would want to copy. But more than a month after Cover Oregon’s online enrollment was supposed to launch, reality is lagging far behind Gov. John Kitzhaber’s grand ideas. The online system still doesn’t work, and the exchange has yet to enroll a single person in health insurance. Interviews with state officials and a review of public records by The Associated Press suggest Cover Oregon officials bit off more than they could chew and clung to their ambitious vision even when their risk management consultants raised alarms.”

But the government spent millions on this happy , happy video for the fine people of Oregon :

Not wanting to steal Hot Air’s thunder we didn’t embed the video . If you want to see what kind of trippy schmaltz your taxpayer dollars are buying , have a look at the video on the website . Just click the graphic and you can see for yourself . Judging from the enrollment results to date , the video is a less than effective multi-million dollar investment . Ore. School Board Votes To Allow Staff To Pack Heat At School

” St. Helens School Board chairman Marshall Porter told ABCNews.com that the board lifted a ban that prevented school employees from carrying guns on campus with concealed weapons permits on Wednesday.

“The current law in Oregon allows for anybody to concealed carry on school grounds,” he said. “To exclude our staff seems like they’re being punished. They should have a right to protect themselves if they so choose.”

The repeal affects the seven schools within the St. Helens School District, including two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and three alternative schools, Porter said.

“I have my kids in there. If there was a chance that something was to happen, and there’s a chance that a teacher might be able to protect them, I’m fine with that,” school board member Kellie Smith told ABC News’ Portland affiliate KATU-TV.

Since the vote, only one parent has contacted Porter about their dissatisfaction with the result, he said.

The move to repeal the weapons ban was less controversial than the vote to bring back school sports at the district’s middle school, which took place at the same time, Porter said.”

Second County Votes To Secede From California

” Along Interstate 5 near Yreka, a Northern California town of about 8,000 people, the roof of an old hay barn informs drivers in bold, black letters they have entered the “State of Jefferson.”

For over 70 years, a group of citizens in Northern California and Southern Oregon have pushed to unite their rural counties and secede from their respective states, creating a new state following the small-government ideals allegedly professed by Thomas Jefferson.

On Tuesday, a second California county joined the growing movement. Modoc County supervisors voted 4-0 in favor of secession, following in the footsteps of neighboring Siskiyou County that made a similar decision earlier this month.

Modoc County Board Chairwoman Geri Byrne told Al Jazeera that public sentiment was strongly in favor of passing the resolution. In a packed public meeting of about 40 people, Byrne said only two people spoke against secession.

Her constituents, Byrne said, are “frustrated,” because rural counties have “no voice in the state of California.”

Supporters of secession say that urban California holds sway in the halls of Sacramento, where both legislative houses are elected proportionally. Since California’s 33 rural counties make up only 9 percent of the total population, rural residents simply are not represented, Byrne said.

Liz Bowen, a member of the Jefferson Declaration Committee, said it takes six hours to drive through her state senator’s district. Senate District 1, which includes Modoc and Siskiyou counties, covers 10 counties. In contrast, Los Angeles metro area has 18 Senate districts. Without influence in Sacramento, she said, “So many laws, rules and regulations have been placed on us that our freedom has been eroded.” “

The store owner, who was – not too surprisingly – packing his own loaded pistol, very calmly like trained his sights on Mosley and demanded that he drop the gun, the baseball bat and a knife he was carrying. MILITARY VETERAN’S AR-15 CONFISCATED BY POLICE – BUT THE REASON WHY IS THE REAL STORY

” An Oregon man has had rifle confiscated and is facing criminal charges after he attempted to stop a wanted felon from breaking into his home by firing a warning shot.

Authorities say 40-year-old Jonathon Kinsella, a wanted felon, was attempting to flee the scene when he was arrested on outstanding warrants, including for burglary and assault.

However, police later determined he wasn’t justified in firing his weapon. Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau said “there was nothing that the suspect was doing that was aggressive enough to justify the shooting.”

Apparently, for police in Medford, a wanted felon trying to break into a law-abiding citizen’s home isn’t enough to justify a warning shot.

Corey Thompson was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and reckless endangering. The veteran’s AR-15 was seized by police because they claim it was used in the commission of a crime.”

DIY Law Enforcement in Cash-Strapped Oregon County

” “They will not send an officer out, so we are on our own totally,” says Sam Nichols, co-founder of Citizens Against Crime. CAC is a group of around 20 armed volunteers who have been conducting routine patrols in and around O’Brien, Oregon since last summer. CAC patrols “are always a minimum of two people,” says Nichols, precisely because they want to avoid the kind of thing “that happened in Florida, the case where Zimmerman shot the boy.”

Why are the citizens of O’Brien patrolling their own streets? Josephine County is a rural area in south western Oregon with serious budget problems. Back in 1916, the federal government bought up millions of acres of land that had been owned by the railroads. The move left 18 Oregon counties without a significant source of property tax revenue. To make up for the lost taxes, the feds began giving the Oregon counties a share of the timber revenues in 1937. The program worked until environmental regulations severely curtailed logging in Oregon. By 1998, timber revenues had dropped to just a third of what they were in 1989. Temporary federal timber subsidies filled the gap, but those subsidies were phased out last year.

This year, Josephine County slashed its public safety budget from $20 million to less than $9 million. As a result, the county was forced to release 39 prisoners, including people charged with assault, burglary and rape. Only three sheriffs patrol Josephine County, an area larger than Rhode Island, and those sheriffs only respond to life-threatening calls.

The self-reliant folks who live in Josephine County aren’t likely to raise their own taxes any time soon, but lots of citizens are willing to do their part to deter criminal activity. Sam Nichols and the other members of Citizens Against Crime strap on guns, turn on flashing lights mounted on their vehicles and keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Former deputy sheriff Carol Dickson maintains a Facebook page called To Catch a Thief as a kind of virtual neighborhood watch program. The page currently has more than 1600 followers.

“Some people are taking the law into their own hands, which obviously scares the heck out of me,” says Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson. But because of the severity of Josephine County’s budget problems, Gilbertson isn’t complaining too loudly. As he puts it, “law enforcement in this community is weak at best.” “

Unannounced Live Shooter Drill At Ore. School Terrifies Teachers

Teachers were terrifed after two masked gunmen burst into the school

” Teachers at Oregon’s Pine Eagle Charter School were shocked when two masked men burst into the faculty meeting room last Friday and opened fire.

Luckily students were at home while only school staff attended the in-service day. The shooters turned out to be school employees shooting blank rounds to test the reaction from the 15 teachers present. The drill, which was planned ahead of time, was kept secret from all teachers on the receiving end.

The school’s principal Cammie DeCastro noted that “not many” of the 15 teachers in the meeting room would have survived according to The Oregonian.

Given what some feel is media fear-mongering after tragic incidents at schools, many would think school shootings are on the rise when they are actually not. Currently a child is three times more likely to be struck by lightning than witness a school shooting.”

Portraits Of Courage , Every One …

” Here are some of the saddest responses from exactly the sort of bleeding-heart Dems who say they care about executive-branch overreach, sticking up for the little guy, you name it:

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio): “I don’t know, there’s a lot of debates I don’t join that I agree — I’ve got stuff to do and was doing a lot of other things.”…

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt., who caucuses with the Ds): “I’m working right now on many, many, other issues.”…

Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.): “Everyone’s got a lot of priorities and people are busy.”…

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Oregon): “”I’m not supporting blocking the opportunity for [up or down votes on presidential appointees].”…

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.): “We all were shocked Republicans were doing a real filibuster instead of a procedural filibuster.”
