Joshua Boren, Utah Officer, Kills Family And Self: Cops

” A 34-year-old officer with a small Utah police department shot and killed his wife, mother-in-law and two young children and turned the gun on himself, authorities said Friday.

Spanish Fork police said the five were found dead about 11 p.m. Thursday, when co-workers reported Joshua Boren didn’t show up for his night shift as a patrol officer at the Lindon Police Department.

Police who looked through the window saw blood on the carpet and shell casings in the front room of the two-story home, police said. When they went inside, they found Boren’s 55-year-old mother-in-law Marie King dead in a bedroom, and Joshua Boren and his immediate family dead in the bedroom next door.”

Holly Hill Police Shoot Dog While Serving Warrant To Wrong House

” A dog owner is demanding a Holly Hill police officer’s badge, after that officer shot his dog while serving a warrant to the wrong house.

” She was shot in the face and the neck and her side right here,” Richard Stotler told FOX 35.

Lady was shot late Friday night in the backyard of Stotler’s home. According to a statement by Holly Hill Police, officers came to the Elsie Avenue house to serve a woman with a warrant for prostitution charges.

The problem is; the woman doesn’t live there anymore. Stotler moved in after her, and said he has no idea who the woman is.

He added when he told police, they didn’t listen; going through the gate around the back of the house, where they found Lady and Stotler’s other dog.”

Probably The Best 2nd Amendment Speech Ever

Canadian Cops Receiving International Praise For Viral Video With Surprising Twist

” Cops in Canada spent several minutes wrestling with a woman as several citizens stood around recording with their cameras, criticizing the officers’ aggressive tactics.

By the time they finally managed to stick the woman in the back of the car, around the 4:30 mark, one of the officers turns to the crowd and instead of demanding their cameras as evidence, gives a full explanation as to what just had taken place.”

We do it when cops are bad so it is only fair to acknowledge the good as well . Offer your praise here .” Here’s their contact info if you want to send them a message.”

Cops: “If We Have To Get A Warrant…We’re Gonna Shoot And Kill Your Dogs”

” Eric Crinnian, an attorney in Kansas City, Missouri, says police came to his door looking for parole violators, and got upset when he refused them permission to tramp through his house and paw through his possessions. In fact, he claims, one cop went so far as to threaten to shoot his dogs if he made them abide by the requirements of the law by getting a search warrant to look through his home. Remarkably, a criminal justice professor says the police actions may not be illegal, though they could be awkward in court.”

Then he said one police officer started threatening him saying, “If we have to get a warrant, we’re going to come back when you’re not expecting it, we’re going to park in front of your house, where all your neighbors can see, we’re gonna bust in your door with a battering ram, we’re gonna shoot and kill your dogs, who are my family, and then we’re going to ransack your house looking for these people.” “

It gets even worse …

” But Missouri has a statute that defines a “credible threat…against the life of, or a threat to cause physical injury to, or the kidnapping of, the person, the person’s family, or the person’s household members or domestic animals or livestock” as aggravated stalking and might fit the bill in this situation. However, that law explicitly exempts law enforcement officers “conducting investigations of violation of federal, state, county, or municipal law,” which is more than a little disturbing.

Really? It’s OK to threaten people’s lives, their family, and their pets if you’re a cop? “

When did the average cops go from being friends and part of the neighborhood , welcomed by all , to bullying storm troopers who represent overbearing State intimidation and coercion ?

Policeman Suspected Of Killing Man He Met On A Cannibal Site

” Police in Dresden, Germany, say that they arrested a police officer on suspicion of murder after a man’s body was found in the Erz mountain. The suspect and the victim met via a fetishist website for cannibalism.

On Friday police say that parts of the victim, who lived in Hanover, may have been eaten, as there are some indications pointing to that, according to BBC.

According to ABC, Police say that the suspect, 55, confessed to slashing the throat of his willing victim, 59, and then he cut the body up into small pieces and proceeded to bury them in his garden.”

Police experts inspect the crime scene in Gimmlitztal near the town of Hartmannsdorf-Reichenau, south of Dresden, November 29, 2013. A German policeman has been arrested after the chopped-up body of a man he met on a fetishist website for cannibalism was found buried in his garden, police in the eastern city of Dresden said on Friday.   Who knew that there were websites for cannibals ?  Some history on the practice of cannibalism can be found here . If one is interested in the more modern occurrences of this abhorrent practice among some of society’s most malevolent creatures read this . Very disturbing stuff , on a par with serial killers we would say , as a fount of human nightmares.

Police Shoot 14-Year-Old Holding Realistic, But Fake, Handgun

” A Michigan teen was in serious condition Sunday after being shot by a police officer when he showed the officer responding to a complaint a handgun that turned out to be fake.

Nicholas King, a 14-year-old from Battle Creek, was shot Saturday by an officer outside a party store. The police department had received a call about a man with a pistol in the bushes near the store, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer.

King’s friend, Shannon Cortes, said she witnessed the incident, telling WOOD-TV the teen raised his hands at the instruction of the officer.

“But he only went half-way,” Cortes told the local news station, adding that his fake weapon was not in his hands at this time. ”His hand was completely clear.” “

While we understand the need for cops to be wary for their safety it seems that the police these days are awfully quick to resort to violence . When we were growing up in the sixties and seventies every boy could be seen carrying a gun , toy or real , at one time or another and none of our friends were ever gunned down by the police . Something has changed in the way that the police interact with the public that has created an “us versus them” attitude which in turn has a snowball effect on respect for authority and community relations .

NY Man Sets Up Hidden Camera and Finds Out Cop Stole His Pro Gun Sign

” A man in Somers, N.Y., hatched a plan to catch the individual responsible for allegedly stealing his pro-gun signs repeatedly from his front yard. He bought a trail cam, set it up near the sign — and then waited.

When he learned that his sign had been taken yet again, he was elated because he knew he had finally caught the person responsible on camera.

He just didn’t expect that person to be a uniformed police officer.”

VERMONT TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS DISPUTE (VIDEO)

” Rod MacIver received a faulty ticket in December which lead him to suing the small Vermont town of Shelburne. He arrived at court to fight the complaint but the judge in small claims court had to postpone the hearing. The police officers who were defending themselves were advised by their attorney to skip the court date and go to a local coffee shop instead. Now the ACLU has gotten involved and slapped the town with twin federal civil rights cases.

The ACLU believes that the officers violated MacIver’s Fourth Amendment rights in pulling him over for no reason and his First Amendment rights when the officer told him to “shut up or get ticketed”. Police initially argued that their video showed a violation, but then conceded later he was wrong and the man apparently committed no crime. Now the police are left to fight off MacIver and the ACLU.”

Charlotte Police Kill Unarmed Man Who May Have Been Running To Them For Help

” Police in North Carolina shot and killed a man running toward them Saturday morning — but he may have just been looking for help after a car wreck.

Officers responded to a “breaking and entering” 911 call at a home in Charlotte.

The homeowner told dispatchers that a man had been knocking on her door repeatedly.

Police say that when they got to the scene, a man matching the caller’s description ran toward them.

One of the officers fired his stun gun, but it was “unsuccessful.” Another officer then opened fire, police said.

Jonathan Ferrell died at the scene. He was shot several times.

He was unarmed.”

Ohio Man Illegally Arrested For Open Carry Sparks $3M Lawsuit

” An Ohio man has slapped local government with a $3.6 million lawsuit after policemen allegedly violated his Constitutional rights. Police detained Ray Call and confiscated his weapon because he openly carried his firearm into a store.

According to reports, Call entered a store late one night with his gun openly on display. The authorities were alerted, and fairly soon two policemen arrived on the scene. The police officers held Call in the back of the police car, took his weapon, and demanded that he identify himself.

It appears that Call has a solid case. Police cannot detain citizens and demand identification with no good reason. Call was well within his rights and Ohio laws clearly backed him up. Police could not have taken action against Call unless it appeared that he was about to commit a crime, and the mere presence of a firearm does not constitute suspicion.”

Boston Suburbs On Lockdown Amid Terror Search

”  One of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing is dead after the killing of a university officer and a shootout with police, and a massive manhunt is underway for the other, authorities said early Friday.

Police are locking down some neighborhoods in Boston and its western suburbs as they search for the remaining suspect: known as the man in the white hat from marathon surveillance footage.

Authorities urged residents in Watertown, Newton, Waltham, Belmont, Cambridge and the Allston-Brighton neighborhoods of Boston to stay indoors. All mass transit was shut down and businesses were asked not to open Friday. People waiting at bus and subway stops were told to go home.

“We believe this to be a terrorist,” said Boston Police Commissioner Ed David of the suspect on the loose. “We believe this to be a man who’s come here to kill people. We need to get him in custody.”
The Middlesex district attorney said the two men are suspected of killing a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer on campus in Cambridge late Thursday, then stealing a car at gunpoint and later releasing its driver unharmed.”

One Boston Bombing Suspect Is Dead

” One of two suspects wanted in Monday’s deadly Boston marathon bombing was killed early Friday in a violent standoff with the police in a quiet residential neighborhood just west of Boston. The second suspect remained at large following what authorities described as a deadly crime spree that left one police officer dead and another seriously wounded.

A Watertown resident, Andrew Kitzenberg, 29, said he looked out his third-floor window to see two young men of slight build in jackets engaged in “constant gunfire” with police officers. A police SUV “drove towards the shooters,” he said, and was shot at until it was severely damaged. It rolled out of control, Mr. Kitzenberg said, and crashed into two cars in his driveway.

The two shooters, he said, had a large, unwieldy bomb that he said looked “like a pressure cooker.”

“They lit it, still in the middle of the gunfire, and threw it. But it went 20 yards at most.” It exploded, he said, and one of the two men ran toward the gathered police officers. He was tackled, but it was not clear if he was shot, Mr. Kitzenberg said.

Meanwhile, the other young man, said Mr. Kitzenberg, got back into the SUV, turned it toward officers and “put the pedal to the metal.” The car “went right through the cops, broke right through and continued west.” “

Texas Police Dept. Responds To Incident Of Arresting War Veteran For “Rudely Displaying” Rifle

We must admit that the title of the linked article is a bit misleading . The Temple police department refuses to comment on Army Master Sgt. C.J. Grisham’s case at this point , but the article is of great interest for the links to a systematic attempt on the part of the government to deny our veterans their 2nd amendment rights .

For those that may have missed it here is the video that Sgt Grisham’s son shot of the arrest :

” TheBlaze has reported that the Temple Police Department, which arrested Grisham, is refusing to comment on what happened. TheBlaze also interviewed Justin Flint, an attorney who specializes in Texas gun law. Flint agreed that, looking at the video, it did not appear that Grisham had resisted the officer in any way. Texas allows concealed carry provided that the carrier shows the officer the weapon, identifies himself, and proves his right to concealed carry.  Additionally, Texas places no legal limitations on “carrying a long arm, a rifle, or a shotgun. . . .” Texas police, however, may disarm a person while they are questioning him, in order to ensure their own safety, provided that, unless they determine that the person carrying the weapon committed a crime, they return the weapon.

Taken in isolation, this could just be a bad luck story – with a single soldier having run afoul of an ill-informed or bad tempered police officer. What’s dismaying about Grisham’s story is the fact that there seems to be a concerted government attack against military personnel and veterans who carry guns.

Read more here about Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s claim that all veterans are dangerously mentally ill and cannot be armed; the Veterans Administrations’ letters to veterans threatening their weapons; and the recent revelation that the Veterans Administration is actively engaged in seizing veterans’ weapons.”

Garland Police Fire Officer Who Shot At Suspect 41 Times, Killing Him At End Of Chase

” A Garland police officer was fired this morning after an investigation into an Aug. 31 shooting in which he shot 41 times at a fleeing suspect.

Authorities say Officer Patrick Tuter shot and killed Michael Vincent Allen of Wylie after a 30-minute high-speed chase that began in Garland and ended in a Mesquite cul-de-sac. The 25-year-old suspect was unarmed at the time.

The seven-year veteran of the force, who said that he felt threatened when he opened fire on Allen’s pickup, had been under investigation by Garland police internal affairs ever since last fall’s shooting.”

[Video] Law Student Open Carrying Teaches Uninformed Officer a Few Things About Rights

Portland Me Law Stud Schools Cop

” In the below video a Portland, ME law student teaches a local police officer a few things about rights.

The officer illegally stops the man, seizes his firearm, sweeps him with the loaded gun in the process, and refuses to return his gun for almost three minutes until his supervisor shows up and immediately says the student is free to go.

For those that aren’t aware, courts have ruled that the mere presence of a gun is not enough of a reason to stop and detain someone.”

Search For Suspected Cop Killer Shuts Down Schools, Ski Resort

” Several schools and a ski resort were put on lockdown Thursday as authorities continued their search for former LAPD officer and suspected killer Christopher Dornan.

Christopher Dorner, 33, a former Los Angeles police officer and Navy reservist, is the subject of a multi-agency manhunt spanning five counties. Dorner is believed to have shot at four police officers early Thursday morning, killing one and wounding two, and is also suspected in the murders of an Irvine couple on Sunday.

Norwalk Christian School, where Dorner attended, will be closed down for the rest of the week after Dorner mentioned it in his manifesto as the place where he first experienced racism, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

As the manhunt moved from Corona and Riverside and into the mountains of Big Bear, where Dornan’s burned-out truck was later found, schools have been placed on lockdown or were closed down all together.”

Member of Biden’s Gun Control Task Force Has a Son Convicted of Planning School Mass Murder

Joseph Nee aka Thomas Nee's Son

” President of the National Assocation of Police Officers and Boston Police Officer Thomas Nee is a member of Vice President Joe Biden’s gun control task force, which was created by President Obama in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Nee’s son, Joseph Nee, was convicted in 2008 for planning to commit mass murder of students and teachers at Marshfield High School in Massachusetts, similar to that of Columbine in 1999. After spending nine months in prison, Nee’s conviction was upheld by the Supreme Judicial Court.

Nee told police the plan involved taking ammunition and explosive devices into the school, securing the school’s exit doors with bicycle locks, and shooting students and staff.

As the blog SipseyStreetIrregulars first pointed out, Nee may have planned to carry out murders of his classmates with his father’s service gun. “

In Video, Collinsville Cop Says He Put Drugs On Random Vehicles To Test Police Dogs

Drug Sniffing Setups

” The drugs would be retrieved, but he acknowledges that if the vehicle were stopped by other police later, a dog sniff could lead to the search of a motorist who would have no explanation for the scent.

The video, entitled “Lodging in Collinsville,” was put together by Terrance Huff, who earlier this year created “Breakfast in Collinsville.” It mocked Huff’s Dec. 4, 2011, traffic stop and drug search by Reichert as Huff and a friend passed through on the way home to Hamilton, Ohio, from a “Star Trek” exhibit in St. Louis. “

Armed Citizen in TX Stops Shooting Spree and Saves

Cop by Making 150+ Yard Shot With a Pistol

” This is a pretty amazing story. An armed private citizen assisted a police officer who was pinned down by the gunfire of a madman who had just killed 3 people and could have killed many more. Amazingly the concerned citizen, Vic Stacy, did so by taking a shot of 150+ yards using only a pistol. “

From Protective Concepts :

” Consider the 21 foot rule.  Originally presented by Dennis Tueller, a sergeant in the Salt Lake City, Utah Police Department in an article called “How Close is Too Close?” published in SWAT Magazine in 1983, the 21 foot rule posits that a police officer with his or her weapon holstered will not be able to respond in time to stop an attacker armed with a knife attacking from 21 feet or less distance.  In other words someone with a knife can cover 21 feet (7 meters) of ground and attack the officer before he or she can draw their weapon and shoot the attacker.

In the years since the idea was first introduced it has been debated and some have argued the distance is actually more than 21 feet – proposing 30 feet or some other number.  We don’t need to dwell on this – suffice to say that there is a very real concern that a motivated assailant could attack an armed citizen / law enforcement officer / protective agent, etc. before they have an opportunity to use their weapon to defend themselves.  Additionally, it’s important to realize the attacker doesn’t need to have a knife or some other edged weapon.  An impact weapon or even bare hands can constitute a very significant threat if the attacker can rapidly close with and engage the victim . “

There is no doubt that having a weapon can save your life , but at the same time we must remember that having a gun is not enough in and of itself . The weapon is useless without the will to use it as this video amply demonstrates . It is in the Spanish language so the beginning may be as elusive to some of our readers as it was to us but once you get to the heart of the video ( about the 6:30 mark )  you will see that guns alone aren’t any guarantee of your personal safety .

” As we see illustrated in the 21 foot rule – having a firearm is no assurance if it can’t be deployed in time in the face of an oncoming threat “
