Obama’s Last Card

” With the ongoing collapse of Iraq, the endgame for the worst foreign policy in American history has begun.

It is no less than astonishing to glance over the foreign policy errors made by the Obama administration since 2009.

● The deliberate alienation of the UK. Thanks to direct and malicious efforts made by President Obama personally (the Churchill bustRegion 1 DVDs), the oldest and most fruitful alliance of the modern age entered into its frostiest period since the Civil War… in the midst of a civilizational conflict in which the Anglosphere comprised the sole serious opposition.

● The deliberate undermining of Israel. Again, a loyal and steady ally was cut off for no rational reason. In this case, a country to which the U.S., as the chief representative of the West, owes an unquestionable moral debt. I guess O was listening to all those Jeremiah Wright sermons after all.

● The dismissal of India. Though generally overlooked, this marks a crucial blow against a future alliance promising profound benefits. The Bush administration put particular effort into widening relations with Asia’s largest democracy. Obama allowed this to collapse, evidently as an insult directed at George W. Bush.

● The abandonment of Africa. Again, Bush did yeoman’s work in reviving American involvement in Africa, an effort that generated praise even from his political enemies. As with India, our first African-heritage president dropped this without even a second glance.”

Mr Dunn’s chronicle continues and of course is less than flattering to the adherents of “smart diplomacy” …

” What can be done? Very little, at this point. To consider otherwise is to assume that this crew of losers — Obama, Hagel, Rice, Power, and a cast of thousands — can somehow undo what they set in motion through their own stupidity and self-delusion in the first place. (This is to assume that you can attract Obama’s attention without calling airstrikes against every golf course on the planet). With the coming collapse of Iraq, the avalanche is in motion and cannot be stopped. The best strategy is to ride it out and prepare to pick up the pieces.”

Police Chief: Not Wanting To Talk To Police Officers Is ‘Odd’

Whitehouse Brutality

” This insight into how police think the public should interact with them is certainly enlightening. (via this tweet and Amy Alkon’s Advice Goddess blog)

The backstory is this: a woman was walking down the street when a motorcycle cop approached her, asked her if she lived in the area and if she would talk to him. She says his approach made her feel uncomfortable, so she refused and continued on her way.

” I thought that maybe he was flirting,” she said. “I just thought it was odd, I thought it was odd. I wasn’t really sure but I felt uncomfortable because there wasn’t anyone around.”

She says she was worried he might not even a real cop, so she refused to stop and began jogging away from him.

” He just crept along beside me on his motorcycle and he started saying, ‘Hey ma’am! I want to talk to you. Hey stop, ma’am! I want to talk to you.’ Then my anxiety rose even higher,” she said.

This was followed shortly thereafter by the cop dismounting, chasing her down, tackling her and placing her under arrest. The police chief claims this arrest was for “walking on the wrong side of the road,” (as well as “evading arrest” and “resisting arrest”) despite the fact that the woman wasn’t ultimately charged with anything.

Even if the preceding events could possibly be dismissed as hearsay, or something tainted by false impressions and emotions, there’s the police chief’s responses to questions about this interaction.

Whitehouse Police Chief Craig Shelton says this:

Shelton says by law you’re not required to stop and talk to an officer if there’s not a lawful reason for them to be stopping you.

But then he says this:

” Normally if a police officer pulls up, in my opinion, it’s awful odd for somebody just to take off and not want to speak to the police officer,” Shelton said.”

The days of the citizens happily interacting with the police are over Chief . The “war on drugs” , the “war on terror” and all the corruption and heavy-handedness they have wrought have seen to that . Public trust in the “authorities” is gone . To the average citizen there is seldom anything positive to come from any interaction with the State .

DEA Official Loses It Over Marijuana Legalization At Senate Hearing. An Existential Threat To His Agency?

” James L. Capra is a career government official. Much of his life has been spent in drug law enforcement. He is a politician and a bureaucrat. He has constituencies he represents. He has federal money to protect. Ending marijuana prohibition means ending a big part of everything this guy has worked for for a long time. He doesn’t want to see the footprint of the DEA diminish on his watch, which is understandable.”

Once in power , no one relinquishes it voluntarily . That is the defining rule of bureaucracy and one of the biggest problems in government today . Every law that Congress passes needs to have a sunset clause , especially considering the poor quality of the average legislator and the very high incidence of the unintended consequences that result from the lawmaker’s attitude of “something has to be done” that comes with every “crisis” … TERM LIMITS for all politicians and TERM LIMITS for their “laws” as well .

We Can Hope

“Peak Oil? How about Peak China?”

” It may be hard to believe, but it’s been a full four years since China hosted the Olympics. At the time, Beijing 2008 appeared to herald China’s return, after a 500 year hiatus, to great power status. Commentators were falling over themselves to pronounce the inevitability of China’s rise and its implications for American influence in Asia.

But is it possible we will look back on those Olympic Games as the peak of Chinese power, rather than the beginning of its rise? That’s the provocative argument espoused by The Diplomat:”

“Are gun voters being taken for granted? Republicans control the House and self-styled pro-gun Democrats abound in the Senate. So why has neither chamber addressed any of the major gun rights issues awaiting resolution?

Numerous bills to restore and preserve Second Amendment rights to Americans have been filed, yet not one has been slated for a vote this year. John Velleco of Gun Owners of America (GOA) tells Townhall, “Every election year, the members of Congress come to pro-gun voters asking to be re-elected, yet we don’t have any pro-gun votes scheduled to come to the House and Senate floor.”

Among the bills ready for action is S. 2205, the Second Amendment Sovereignty Act, introduced last week by Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.). This bill would bar the Administration from signing onto the Arms Trade Treaty. Moran worries that this treaty allowing international bodies to regulate civilian firearms could wind up letting those institutions “restrict the lawful private ownership of firearms in our country.” The Senate should consider this important idea as part of its broader look at the risks the Treaty poses. ”

This article amply demonstrates the necessity of turning out the rinosaurs along with the progressives . The reign of the  establishment ” go along to get along ” attitude needs to be brought to a swift end .
There is little demonstrable difference in the parties overall and the only thing that seems to inject some semblance of spine into the political class is fear of their loss of privilege .
That fact brings about the obvious conclusion that step one towards responsible governance is the complete elimination of the political class . No career politicians equals less power which equals less favoritism which equals less corruption .
    One and Done .
