Poll: Obama Approval Ratings Drop, Americans Say He’s Not Trustworthy

Washington (CNN) –  ” President Barack Obama’s approval rating among American voters has dropped to its lowest number in Quinnipiac University polling since he became President, according to a survey released on Tuesday that also raised new doubts about trust.

As Obama juggles the bungled rollout of HealthCare.gov and questions over his initial promises about health care reform become magnified, only 39% of voters approve how he is handling his job, while 54% disapprovethe new data from the school’s Polling Institute shows.

According to the poll, a majority of voters, 52%, say the President is not honest and trustworthy, compared to 44% who say the opposite. It’s the first time in Quinnipiac history that the president’s trustworthy numbers are underwater.”

The Kool-aid is finally wearing off and the public , despite the media handmaiden’s best efforts , has begun to see the nakedness of the emperor.

” While the President has a positive rating, 52%-42%, for how he handles terrorism, he gets negative ratings on foreign policy, immigration, the federal budget, and the economy. A majority of voters, 53%, say the Obama administration has not been competent in managing the U.S. government, according to Quinnipiac.”

The real question is , if such a large percentage of the population disapproves of the way Obama has handled the economy , foreign policy , spending , healthcare , immigration and just about every other major policy issue and find him untrustworthy to boot , why does he still have a positive rating ? Anyone ? We have a theory . What’s yours ?

Connecticut Massacre Records Secret, Media Seek Access

” The shooter is dead and the prosecutor handling the case has said he does not expect any charges.

Yet authorities are continuing to keep search warrants and police records secret. Media outlets have pressed for the release of more records, which could shed light on a crime that has revived the national debate over gun control and could change the way guns are regulated.

News media advocates say the records should be unsealed, arguing the public has a right to see such records, which include what was found in the house and car. They say records may be sealed only when an investigation would be hurt by disclosure.

“There seems to be absolutely no reason that they would need to. It’s not going to jeopardize the case in any way,” said Linda Petersen, chairwoman of the Freedom of Information Committee of the Society of Professional Journalists.”

Cuomo Support Dips After Gun-Control Push

” Cuomo’s approval rating fell to 59 percent from an all-time high of 74 percent in the survey, conducted by Quinnipiac University.

That fall was driven almost entirely by Republican voters souring on the governor after he signed into law tough new gun restrictions. They included a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines, increased penalties for purchasing illegal guns, and requirements to report potentially harmful behavior by the mentally ill. Many of the state-level provisions championed by Cuomo have also received support from President Obama, who called for new federal gun controls in the aftermath of the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn.”
