A sharp-eyed reader called this dose of insanity to our attention and we thought our readers would like to know how seriously the government takes  those ” draconian cuts” to it’s budget .

While you may stand in line for an extra hour to board your plane you can rest assured in the knowledge that the TSA thug holding you up is comfortable in his/her new uniform , socks and belts included …

If you find yourself losing patience as your legs go numb from standing in line be sure to save a measure of pity for that poor public tyrant “servant” that has to pay for his own shoes and dry cleaning …. Oh the horror …

TSA Signs $50 Million Uniform deal, As Billions In Federal Cuts Ripple Across America

” The Transportation Security Administration agreed on a deal last month worth as much as $50 million to buy new uniforms for rank-and-file agents, despite concerns that imminent budget cuts would result in furloughs and 90-minute flight delays.

Agency officials signed the contract just days before the start of the $85 billion in federal budget cuts known as sequester.

On Feb. 22, the same day the contract was signed, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said the sequester cuts could result in flight delays as long as 90 minutes at major airports in Chicago, New York and San Francisco and warned about furloughing air traffic controllers.

The deal does not include shoes or dry cleaning, according to CNSNews.com, which first reported the story. TSA did not respond to requests for comment.

Blackburn also is taking issue with a union-negotiated deal in which TSA security officers get a higher uniform allowance than combat Marine lieutenants, who receive a one-time allowance of $400.”

Obama Bypasses Congress to Mandate Black Boxes for All Cars — Beginning in ’14

” Bypassing Congress, the Obama administration has issued a proposed administrative rule, which if adopted, would mandate the installation of “black boxes” in all automobiles and light trucks beginning in 2014.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposed the regulation on Dec. 7, which it said “would capture valuable safety-related data in the seconds before and during a motor vehicle crash.”

The proposed standard would require automakers to install event data recorders (EDRs) – so-called “black box devices” — to collect specific safety related data in all light passenger vehicles beginning Sept. 1, 2014.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said approximately 96 percent of model year 2013 passenger cars and light-duty vehicles are already equipped with black-box capability.

“By understanding how drivers respond in a crash and whether key safety systems operate properly, NHTSA and automakers can make our vehicles and our roadways even safer,” LaHood said in a news release. “This proposal will give us the critical insight and information we need to save more lives.” “

As the professor is wont to say “we’re in the best of hands”

” It’s bad enough to have a columnist at one of America’s most prominent newspapers regularly
singing the praises of Chinese authoritarianism. It’s worse when high-ranking members of the
American government do it. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood griped at the Aspen Ideas
Festival about having to deal with political opposition, and yearned for the ease in which Beijing could impose solutions without having to
deal with dissent: ”

Isn’t it wonderful that our present administration draws on Red China for it’s inspiration and longs for the control that only authoritarian dictatorship can bring ?

“The Chinese are more successful [in building infrastructure] because in their country, only three people make the decision. In our country, 3,000 people do, 3 million,” LaHood said in a short interview
with The Cable on the sidelines of the 2012 Aspen Ideas Festival on June 30. ”

Are these the kind of people we want running our country for 4  more years ?  God help us .
