Everyone Gets A Gun: NRA Commentator Talks ‘Gun Required’ Zones, Shooting Tests

” In a new video entitled “Everyone Gets a Gun,” NRA commentator Billy Johnson this week dishes on his view of guns and education in America, comparing the two and drawing on some startling comparisons and thought-provoking contrasts in our nation’s schools as balanced against gun laws.

In the four-minute video, which begins with a disclaimer that Johnson’s commentary “does not necessarily” reflect the larger organization’s views, Johnson proposes that schools be mandated to introduce a curriculum that forces kids to learn shooting skills, as part of his tongue-in-cheek suggestion for “gun required zones.” “

Net Neutrality Activists Are Mobilizing For A “Day Of Action”

Save The Internet

” Internet activists are hunkered down today, meeting with major tech companies, startups, venture capitalists, and organizations representing communities of color in preparation for a coordinated response to counter the Federal Communications Commission’s proposed new rules that could destroy net neutrality.

The proposed FCC regulations, first reported yesterday by the Wall Street Journal, would allow broadband providers to essentially act as gatekeepers and charge websites fees in order to reach customers through a data “fast lane.” This is the antithesis of net neutrality, which states that all traffic is to be treated equally. In short, net neutrality is an assurance that internet providers can’t favor one kind of traffic over another, or charge for access to certain parts of the internet. According to activists, yesterday’s reports signal a hard end to that practice as well as the open internet (FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler attacked the reports in a blog post, saying that “the allegation that it will result in anti-competitive price increases for consumers is also unfounded”).

The news has web activists are worried. And they’re mobilizing.

“ Net Neutrality is on life support,” Free Press’ Josh Levy wrote this afternoon in a joint Reddit AMA on the subject. As of this afternoon, it’s the top post on Reddit’s front page with over 5,000 upvotes, a signal that the news seems to have hit a nerve online and that frustration with the FCC is beginning to bleed into the mainstream.”

BLM Rangers Brought In From Out Of State For Nevada Ranch ‘Emergency’

” Armed Rangers were brought in from out of state by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to assist in security surrounding the Bundy Ranch, according to the family.

A heated confrontation on Wednesday resulted in Cliven Bundy’s son Ammon being tasered by BLM officials and a 57-year-old protester being shoved to the ground.

Stetsy Bundy Cox, Cliven’s daughter, told the Washington Free Beacon that some of the rangers had Oregon and California license plates.

“ You know, some of these guys don’t even know why they’re here,” she said. “A few people have talked to them and they got called in here on an emergency feed and they didn’t know what it was for, it just said they had to be here.”

Supreme Court Rules Fifth Amendment Has To Actually Be Invoked

” In a 5-4 decision the Supreme Court ruled today that a potential defendant’s silence can be used against him if he is being interviewed by police but is not arrested (and read his Miranda rights) and has not verbally invoked the protection of the Fifth Amendment.

Tim Lynch at the Cato Institute explains that the Salinas v. Texas case was intended to be about whether prosecutors during a trial could cast aspersions on a defendant’s silence during questioning that took place prior to arrest — prior to the defendant being told he had the right to remain silent. Instead, the Supreme Court determined that they wouldn’t need to rule on the matter because the defendant had never invoked the Fifth Amendment’s protection. This decision means that it’s the responsibility of the individual to know about the protections offered by the Fifth Amendment even prior to arrest and to actually verbally invoke it:

The Court said Salinas simply remained silent and did not “formally” invoke any constitutional right, so prosecutors could offer commentary to the jury. What’s most disturbing about the ruling is its discussion of “burdens.” The plurality put the onus on the individual, not the government. That is the profound error in the decision. As the dissenters noted, in the circumstances of the case, it was evident what Salinas was doing. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has complicated the law for persons who are the most vulnerable–persons who lack education, persons who do not speak English very well, persons who may suffer from mental problems, and persons who may be under the influence of alcohol. This is a bad day for the Bill of Rights.

It is becoming painfully obvious that the judicial branch is every bit as corrupt as the executive and legislative branches of government . It is the “Government” versus the governed . But remember , they cannot govern without our consent .

Bloomberg U.S.A.

” It looks like Americans are in for a long campaign by Mayor Bloomberg to exploit the killings at Newtown, Connecticut, for his campaign against what he likes to call “illegal guns.” The children slain in Connecticut hadn’t even been identified when Mr. Bloomberg was issuing statements attacking President Obama for failing to take “immediate” action. The thing for the rest of America to keep in mind about Mr. Bloomberg is that in his hometown he has become known for playing a very slippery game.

This starts with the name of one of the organizations Mr. Bloomberg uses, known as Mayors Against Illegal Guns. In fact it plumps for prohibitions on guns that are currently legal. The organization likes to quote police chiefs who are for more gun control. This line of argument was demolished after the Aurora, Colorado, massacre, by the Wall Street Journal. It issued a piece by John Lott reporting that the overwhelming majority of police chiefs surveyed in America believe that “any law-abiding citizen [should] be able to purchase a firearm for sport or self-defense.”

That, Mr. Lott noted, was the finding of the National Association of Chiefs of Police. It covered more than 20,000 chiefs of police and sheriffs. Adds Mr. Lott: “Seventy-seven percent believed that concealed-handgun permits issued in one state should be honored by other states ‘in the way that drivers’ licenses are recognized through the country’—and that making citizens’ permits portable would ‘facilitate the violent crime-fighting potential of the professional law enforcement community.’”

Gun Owners provide safety

Gun Owners of America

Some reflections on our present state of affairs from Gun Owners of America

“In America nowadays, when all you have to do is infer that someone MIGHT be up to something that appears to be possibly terroristic in nature you can shred the 4th Amendment right and do whatever it takes in pursuit of him.

Then we have the TSA.  Workers whose starting salary grade is $17,000 a year are given absolute power over whether you are allowed to travel or not.  And I don’t mean that these people are stopping you because you have brought anthrax on a plane or reek of plutonium.  They can kick you off just because they don’t like you.  I feel bad for all the beautiful women who are subjected tocancer causing backscatter screens just because some agent wants to get his jollies off.  Or for people who have been sexually assaulted having to relive the experience at one of the agents grope fests.

Not only is the government fighting to keep the TSA in airports they are trying to expand it to bus terminals, train stations and on the streets.”

Rights ? What Rights ?

Good for SAF , good for US . This kind of bureaucratic nonsense has to stop . Support the Gun Rights organization of your choice . Please , even if you don’t own a gun . No organizations work harder at preserving our freedom and liberties than the 2nd amendment groups . If the 2nd goes the 1st is sure to follow .

” Last month, the Second Amendment Foundation filed a suit in federal court against the police departments of San Francisco and Oakland. The suit was over the police departments’ refusal to return firearms confiscated from individuals during the course of investigations in which those individuals were later cleared of wrongdoing.

The filing, which came just days before the similar story of wounded Afghan war veteran Lt. Augustine Kim surfaced, where, after stop for a medical appointment at Walter Reed during a trip from New Jersey to South Carolina, Kim was arrested and his firearms confiscated by DC police.”

…. More Than They Can Chew

More support in the works for Aaron Walker and all opposed to Brett Kimberlin , his tactics and SWATting . Michelle Malkin brings news that the American Center for Law and Justice has joined the case in support of the National Bloggers Club and Ali Akbar .

” I’ve been telling you about First Amendment lawyers working behind the scenes to help the targets of Brett Kimberlin and his online cabal.

Kudos to the ACLJ for stepping up to the plate in the face of ongoing threats and smears. Just released:

ACLJ DEFENDS FREE SPEECH IN BLOGOSPHERE – REPRESENTING TOP CONSERVATIVE BLOGGERS TARGETED FOR HARASSMENT”

The harder the progressives try the worse they seem to end up these days . There can be no doubt that Brett Kimberlin was laboring under the serious misapprehension that he could continue indefinitely to play by rules of his choosing . But such is not to be . God bless Al Gore and his internet .

For the past 18 months in Wisconsin we have observed the same phenomena unfolding wherein after each repudiation of their spendthrift ways they refuse to except defeat and try an attack from a different angle . Obamacare came about in the same kind of sneaky , underhanded backdoor way and although it represents the one solid victory the Left can claim these days , it  is also the one they surely regret most of all due to its toxicity .

That toxicity is exactly the reason that perhaps we have reached that point referred to by Glenn Reynolds as a ” preference cascade

Don’t Get LOST

Be sure and make a stink to your Senator . We don’t want to get LOST.

No UN treaties at all . These things are just blatant attempts to subvert our Constitution .

“Insisting Republican Senators Uphold American Values and Interests by OPPOSING LOST ( the Law of the Sea Treaty)!”

“Co-blogger Eugene Volokh has an excellent post on how the proposed People’s Rights
Amendment threatens freedom of speech. But it’s important to recognize that the proposal goes far beyond denying free speech rights to entities organized as corporations. It would deny them all other constitutional rights as well. ”

Leave to the party of ” liberty” not , to propose this sort of nonsense . Remember , when you can’t win in the arena of ideas , change the rules . The progressive mantra .

This bill makes peace officers

I am proud to say that the photo was captured by my 17 year old daughter of her own accord as we made our way to see Auburn University this weekend .
It is wonderful to know that my child realizes the significance of such a sentiment . This dad is very proud .
We should never forget the importance of these words that are carved in stone …. She sure won’t .
