De Blasio Tops NY Mayoral Primary; Weiner Distant Fifth

New Yorkers Demonstrate A Small Measure Of Common Sense In Shunning These Two Cretins

” New York mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio, who began his campaign as a long-shot but surfed a late wave of momentum by tapping into liberal anxiety over the three-term administration of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, overwhelmed his opponents on Tuesday to finish first in the city’s Democratic mayoral primary.

If De Blasio is forced into a runoff, he would face the second place finisher, former city comptroller Bill Thompson, the race’s lone African-American candidate.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, a lesbian who would have been the city’s first female mayor, finished in a disappointing third place, her once-invincible campaign collapsing under the weight of her ties to Bloomberg.

City comptroller John Liu finished fourth, followed in a distant fifth by former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose candidacy imploded earlier this summer after he admitted to having more lewd conversations with women he met on the Internet.

Republican Joe Lhota, the former top deputy to Rudy Giuliani, won his party’s nomination, defeating John Catsimatidis, the colorful grocery store maven who pumped millions from his personal fortune into the race.”

CNN Poll: Majority Doesn’t Trust Obama, Approval Rating Suffers Severe Drop

” President Barack Obama’s approval rating dropped a shocking 8 percentage points over the last month — one of sharpest, fastest plunges in his presidency, according to a new CNN poll released early Monday morning.

For the first time in Obama’s time in office,  more than half of the public doesn’t feel that the president is honest and trustworthy, the CNN/ORC International poll showed.

Specifically, Obama’s approval rating stands at 45 percent, down from 53 percent in mid-May, CNN reported. A shocking 54 percent of respondents told pollsters they disapprove of how Obama is handling his job. That was up 9 points in just a month. “

The Daily Show Hits Washington Scandals Harder Than News Media

” The Daily Show’s John Oliver sat in for Jon Stewart, who is apparently pregnant and gone for the summer, and gave a lengthy monologue about the whistleblower stories that was simply hilarious.”

” It’s pretty sad when a “comedy” show hits a major news story harder than the mainstream media, including Fox News.”

” Glenn Beck today on his show stated that he plans to break news within 24 hours that could take down the entire power structure of the government.

He said a short time ago, “This country, I believe is going to be rocked… um, in the next 24 hours, with some things going on in Washington and beyond, that we found out yesterday and we will be telling you in great detail in the next 24 hours.”

“And it is… it will show you how dire the situation is and we will be greatly divided as a nation.”

Beck stated that they have a whistle-blower and that this guy is so afraid, he is afraid for his life.

The news that Beck said he will break within 24 hours comes on the reports of the NSA spying scandal when NSA contractor, Edward Snowden exposed the vast spy network that covered every single communication apparatus in America.”

While we like and admire Mr Beck , it seems to us that we’ve heard this claim before some months back and that the resulting “exclusive” was not exactly earth shaking news . We hope that we are wrong . Lord knows , given the steady stream of scandalous affairs emanating from the corridors of power in Washington these days , perhaps another shoe dropping should not be ruled out .

25 Best Political Jokes Of The Month

1. Jon Stewart

“I wouldn’t be surprised if President Obama learned Osama bin Laden had been killed when he saw himself announce it on television.”

Obama’s Agenda Scorched In Firestorm

” Republicans have long depicted Obama as an advocate of a big, dangerous and overreaching government, back to the federal bailout of the auto industry he undertook during the financial crisis that greeted his first inauguration.”

With a great deal of accuracy , we might add …

” In recent weeks, it has fueled outrage over the targeting by the Internal Revenue Service of conservative Tea Party groups seeking non-profit status, and over the use of secret subpoenas and search warrants against the Associated Press and Fox News in Justice Department investigations of news leaks.”

But as we are seeing , that is just the tip of the iceberg …

” Now the headlines are focused on governmental monitoring that touches not just reporters but, apparently, just about anyone who makes a phone call. Thursday began with explosions over a story in The Guardian in London of a broad secret U.S. warrant for phone records from Verizon. By midday, Senate Intelligence Chairman Dianne Feinstein had confirmed the surveillance had been going on for years. By the end of the day, The Washington Post and The Guardian reported that a data-mining program targeting foreigners was tapping into such Internet companies as Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and Facebook.”

Can we call him “Big Brother” yet ?

” To be sure, Obama didn’t launch the data-mining initiatives, which were started during the Bush administration, though he has expanded them. He had defenders Thursday ranging from California Sen. Feinstein, a liberal Democrat, to South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a conservative Republican. “It’s called protecting America,” Feinstein said.”

The American people are fast discovering that we are more in need of protection from our own government than from any foreign enemy .

” In our time, political speech and writing are largely the defense of the indefensible.”

 George Orwell

”  But his critics also spanned the political spectrum. “Is it just me, or is secret blanket surveillance obscenely outrageous?” former vice president Al Gore posted on Twitter. Rep. James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, an author of the Patriot Act that was used to obtain the court order, called it “excessive and un-American.” “

Wonder of wonders , Obama has even managed to create agreement between this page and , of all people , Al Gore … We guess pigs really can fly , at least in Obama’s Amerika …

Nixon and Obama: Like brothers from another mother

Published on May 28, 2013

” Many pundits and journalists, including CBS’ Bob Schieffer, have drawn parallels between the Obama White House’s handling of scandals plaguing the administration and Former President Nixon’s management of Watergate. We looked back in the archives to see just how close they were.”

Another Pelosi Gem: GOP Makes So Much Of Scandals Because Obama Is ‘Such A Great President’

” Nancy Pelosi, like Joe Biden, is the gift that keeps on giving. Today she offered up more brilliant analysis as to why The GOP is “making so much” of the scandals: because Barack Obama in “such a great president.”

“They make so much of these issues, because this president is such a great president. He’s a visionary – you’ve heard me say this so many times.

This is a great president. He’s a visionary. He has a knowledge of our country, concerns of the American people that give him judgment as to what plan we should have to go forward to strengthen the middle class.”

When It Rains, It Pours: Ten Press Conference Take Aways

” President Obama’s press conference in the rain was not a success, if by success, his supporters would mean an event which convinces anyone who doesn’t work for him that he’s getting ahead of the scandal deluge. The sight of a Marine holding an umbrella over his head only added to the weirdness of the event.

So what did we learn?

4. He wouldn’t say that the White House had no previous knowledge of IRS wrongdoing. Instead he said he didn’t have any knowledge of the Inspector General’s report before it was released.

5. He brought up funding for our embassies, referencing Benghazi, Libya. But of course we know that funding shortages had nothing to do with the fiasco that transpired. For claiming otherwise my colleague Glenn Kessler awarded Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) three Pinocchios.

10.  Mainstream media reaction to the president’s handling of the scandals ranges from bad to terrible. Sure there are some very creative excuse-makers for the president, but they are now in the decided minority.”
