Sgt Tahmooressi

” U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, jailed more than 200 days in Mexico, was freed by a  judge Friday and immediately returned to the U.S., his family said.

Tahmooressi, 26, who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, had been held since March 31, when he said he mistakenly crossed into Mexico with three legally-purchased and registered guns in his truck.

A court-appointed psychiatrist confirmed that Tahmooressi has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Family spokesman Jonathan Franks said the judge released him without making a determination on the charge against him. He had been held initially at a prison outside Tijuana, then was moved to a prison outside Tecate.

His family released a statement Friday night saying, “It is with an overwhelming and humbling feeling of relief that we confirm that Andrew was released today after spending 214 days in a Mexican jail. He is back on American soil and will shortly resume treatment for both his pre-existing combat related PTSD and the residual effects of months of incarceration – which has taken a toll on him far worse than his two tours in Afghanistan.” “

Good News For Sgt. Tahmooressi! This Surveillance Video Could Lead To His Release

” Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi is an innocent Marine who took took a wrong turn and accidentally crossed the Mexican border with guns in his car. There is no excuse for President Obama refusing to pick up the phone and demanding that Mexican authorities release him, immediately, which is why there have been numerous campaigns (see here and here) to urge Obama to do the right thing.

After sitting in a filthy Mexican prison for SIX MONTHS and suffering from health issues, we finally have solid video evidence which completely backs up Tahmooressi’s version of the story. “

Mexican Judge Hands Down Devastating Orders To U.S. Marine Imprisoned On Gun Charges

” The U.S. Marine, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, who has been held in a Mexican prison on weapons charges has been ordered back to prison by a Mexican judge, after his first full court appearance Wednesday.

Mexican authorities are standing by their decision to move forward with prosecuting him for entering the country with military-grade firearms, contending not knowing their laws does not exempt him from them.

Tahmooressi has now been imprisoned in Mexico for a total of 101 days, with little American action to retrieve him, except for a letter sent Wednesday by a group of U.S. bipartisan lawmakers requesting his immediate return.  The news of Mexico’s decision to prosecute him was released that same day. “

He’ll trade five dangerous terrorist leaders for a traitor but won’t lift a finger to help an persecuted Marine . That’s Obama-world for you . What a disgraceful example of a “leader” is our current president . Serve your country with distinction and be abandoned , illegally cross the border and be rewarded … what a world

GMN: Bikers Enroute To Free US Marine In Mexico Prison!

Published on Jun 12, 2014

” The founder and president of Shield Tactical, John W. Harrington, made the trek from Shiner, Texas to Tombstone, Ariz., in the effort to ultimately free Marine reservist Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, who served two combat tours in Afghanistan and has been held in a Mexican prison since the beginning of April on weapons smuggling charges.

Pete Santilli of the Guerilla Media Network (GMN) caught up with Harrington on the road. In a video posted at GMN’s YouTube page, Harrington confirmed that he was on his way to meet with the group “Riders USA.” The group “2 Million Bikers to DC” has also been supporting the effort, posting updates at their Facebook page.

In the video, Harrington questions the wisdom charging the imprisoned Marine with smuggling. “He had [three] guns that were registered to him,” he said, also pointing out that “armed Mexican military crosses the U.S. border daily – oftentimes by accident. We turn them around and let them go home,” he explained.

Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi missed an exit, forcing him into the San Ysidro border crossing, described as “the busiest border crossing in the world” at Fox News Latino. One commuter was quoted in the article as saying “…once you pass the last U.S. exit, if you’re in the right lane, there is no way to get over to the far left lane to make a U-turn back to the U.S.,” he said. “You have to go through to the border.”

According to Tahmooressi’s mother Jill, the young Marine had all of his worldly possessions in his vehicle, including his legally-owned firearms. A month after Tahmooressi’s arrest, “a huge lighted sign [for the U-turn lane back to the U.S.] was added to make it more visible.”

Mexico has particularly harsh gun laws, as described at the website of the Consulate General of the United States in Tijuana. Despite this, their “gun homicide” rate is almost triple that of the United States. According to Mexico’s central statistics bureau (INEGI) for 2012, 98 percent of all murders go unsolved.
