DoubleTap Review

” We’ve given spilled a lot of virtual ink waxing poetic about DoubleTap.  We loved this gun from the start.  And at last, close to a year after I first held one at the SHOT Show, we have one in for review.  It has been a long wait.  After all of the hype, I almost expected it to be anticlimactic.  But then I pulled the trigger.

Everything you may have read about the brutal recoil from the DoubleTap is true.  It hurts.  I put 50 rounds of .45 ACP through this gun and I’m in pain.  The web of muscle between my thumb and pointer finger on my right hand is sore.  The metacarpal in my thumb feels bruised.  I’m not going to try to sugar coat it.  The pain is sharp and intense.  If you’ve shot a .44 magnum (especially one with wooden grips) you understand recoil.  The DoubleTap is more painful.”

” DoubleTap Firearms has developed  the world’s smallest and lightest .45 ACP concealed carry pistol on the market today. Also available in 9mm. “

Titanium or Aluminium Frames with a MIL-STD finish that resists corrosion

Hornady Addresses Ammo Shortage: We’re working 24/7

” Big time ammo company Hornady released a statement Tuesday commenting on the ammo shortage and shed light on some key questions they’ve been asked repeatedly.

“The current political climate has caused extremely high demand on all shooting industry products, including ours,” Hornady said in the statement. “Empty retail shelves, long backorders, and exaggerated price increases on online auction sites – all fueled by rumors and conjecture – have amplified concerns about the availability of ammunition and firearms-related items.”

In short, Hornady, like many other ammo and gun makers, are producing as much as they can, which is more than last year and a lot more than the year before that. And like any business they want to make their products available for those who want to buy them and in turn win the sale.”

12 Miles Of Guns: SHOT Show Kicks Off In Las Vegas

” The largest gun show in the world has opened its doors in Las Vegas, revealing 12.5 miles of firearms, ammunition and related gear from every major gun manufacturer on earth.

The annual SHOT show — short for Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade — is owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), a firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry trade association. Each year the show generates millions of dollars in revenue that NSSF uses to fund programs that help “promote, protect and preserve” hunting and the shooting sports.

Attendance to the show is restricted to shooting, hunting and outdoor trade professionals and commercial buyers and sellers of military, law enforcement and tactical products and services, however, meaning hunters, sports shooters and shooting clubs are not permitted entry.

Similarly, they do not permit any personal firearms or ammunition. Only exhibitors’ firearms on display that have had their firing pins are permitted.

A bucketload of celebrities, from the A&E’s Duck Dynasty family through to NASCAR driver Jason White, will also be making an appearance this year. The show will also host legendary Vietnam War sniper Chuck Mawhinney, Medal of Honor recipient Jon Cavaiani, pro shooter Doug Koenig, country music singer Mark Wills and SEAL Team 3 sniper Chris Kyle. “

New from Mossberg: 20 Gauge 500s (VIDEO)

” Let’s begin with the 500 line of pump guns.  Mossberg now has options in 20 gauge 500s.  There are several different versions of their defense minded 500, and some that are more sporty.  They’ve even carried it over to the Maverick line.

But it is the 20 gauge defensive guns that I respect the most.  While I’m built to handle anything the 12 gauge can shoot, I have seen other shooters get so nervous about recoil that they aren’t effective as shooters.  Some folks need a smaller shotgun.  That’s all there is to it.

And an eight shot 20 gauge Mossberg 500 is going to provide that option for many of these people.  These guns are noticeably smaller, lighter, and they’ll be much easier to use. ”

NASGW PREVIEW OF NEW GUNS, AMMO ROLLING OUT SOON

” The SHOT Show is where all eyes turn to see what new guns and gear will be rolling out during the year.  But, the smaller National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers Expo is a chance for manufacturers to show their wares to distributors several months before SHOT.  Often, a company will pick this show to debut a new product.

Wrapping up last Friday, this week’s show brought a number of new products out of the shadows and into the limelight.  While it is impossible to describe all of the new guns and gear in this column, I want to hit some of the highlights. “
