Dog Killed In Standoff

” A dog was shot and killed as police moved in to end a 3-hour and 40-minute standoff Saturday afternoon at a residence at 4000 Victory Avenue.

The incident, which police said began at about 11:30 a.m., concluded at about 3:10 p.m. when the male resident of the home was seen being taken into custody. No humans were injured. The man, whom police had not identified as of 6 p.m. Saturday, was in custody at the Racine County Jail, said police Sgt. Sam Stulo.

The incident started over a confrontation about leaf blowing and dog excrement, said Kim Polk, 49, who lives diagonally from the man in the 1600 block of Russet Street. Polk said she was using a leaf blower to pick up leaves and move them when her neighbor made a comment about her clearing leaves at his house when she was done. Polk said she did not see humor in the statement.

“ I’m neighborly, but there are some neighbors you just don’t mess with and that’s one neighbor we don’t fool with,” Polk said, noting the man’s many alleged run-ins with police in the past.”

Man Charged With Killing Burleson County Deputy No Billed by Grand Jury

” A Burleson County Grand Jury declined to indict the man who shot and killed a Burleson County Sheriff’s Deputy who was serving a search warrant in December.

Investigators were executing a search warrant at Henry McGee’s mobile home near Snook when the shooting happened.

News 3 takes a look at why deputies had targeted McGee’s home.

28-year-old Henry Magee is no longer charged in the shooting death of Burleson County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Sowders.

A grand jury decided there wasn’t enough evidence for him to stand trial on the capital murder charge.

McGee admitted to shooting Sowders before sunrise on December 19th while the deputy and other investigators were serving a no knock search warrant for drugs at McGee’s mobile home near Snook.

Magee’s Defense Attorney Dick DeGuerin says his client thought someone was breaking into his home and fired to protect his pregnant girlfriend and himself.

” Well we feel that the grand jury acted fairly and reasonably and had all of the information that it needed to make the decision that it did. That is that this was a justified shooting and, but we need to say that this is a tragedy,” Dick DeGuerin said.”

SWAT officer attracts ridicule after he’s pictured with his rifle sight on backwards

image

“A SWAT team in upstate New York is being mocked as an example of the difference between military and police training after an officer was captured peering through a backwards sight on his combat rifle.
As users on the military Reddit were quick to point out when the image was posted, the reverse sight makes it effectively useless.
Users mocked the SWAT officers training and some went so far as to question the motives of some of the men serving in local law enforcement.”
