Gov. Cuomo Set To Announce 25-Member Panel To Probe Corruption

” Gov. Cuomo tomorrow is set to drop his biggest hammer on the scandal-scarred state Legislature.

Cuomo is ready to follow through on his long-standing threat to create a special commission to investigate legislative corruption.

The much anticipated move comes after the Legislature failed to take up Cuomo’s anti-corruption package unveiled after a spate of scandals earlier this year led to several lawmaker arrests.

The 25-member bipartisan panel will have subpoena power and will be packed with law enforcement officials–including nearly a dozen district attorneys. Bronx DA Robert Johnson is among them, sources said.

It also will include former interim US attorney Benito Romano, who also served as chief of the corruption unit under then US Attorney Rudy Giuliani, the sources said.

The panel will be co-chaired by Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice, Syracuse District Attorney William Fitzpatrick, and Milton Williams Jr., chair of the Fund For Modern Courts.”
