Why Syria Hacking Obama’s Twitter Account Is A Sign Of Things To Come

” Last week, the Syrian Electronic Army briefly hacked President Obama’s official Twitter account and claimed to have accessed some of his sensitive campaign emails. And this follows months of speculation that Chinese hackers have been doing everything from hacking into Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign to burrowing deep inside America’s most sensitive infrastructure. From an asymmetric warfare perspective, the Internet has tilted the military playing field once again. America has bombs, planes and tanks, the rest of the world has… free stuff on the Internet.

In other words, Syria couldn’t possibly attack the U.S. on our own soil (we hope), but it can mess with our Internet. As Syrian leaders have pointed out before, ever since the Syrian Electronic Army formed in 2011, these hackers have begun to comprise “a real army in a virtual reality.” Think of just some of the various attacks members of the Syrian Electronic Army have carried out over the past 18 monthsthey’ve hacked major media websites such as those of the New York Times and the Washington Post, they’ve defaced websites, coordinated denial of service attacks, sent false news accounts via social media accounts and used sophisticated phishing tacts to compromise the account information of potential opponents.

And they’re just getting warmed up. What if our national infrastructure is next? What if they decide to play a little game with our nuclear reactors (or, at least, those hooked up to computers and sensors), all while sitting thousands of miles away, playing around on the Internet?

This is one reason that the State feels that it must “control” the internet . Hacking , Anonymous and the internet itself are the greatest “force multipliers” ever available to arm the people the power in their fight against tyranny and abusive government .

Syrian Hackers Target Obama’s Twitter, Facebook Posts

SEA Hacks Obama

” The pro-Assad group Syrian Electronic Army claims it hacked the Twitter and Facebook accounts of U.S. President Barack Obama.

In an exclusive email to Mashable sent from an account believed to belong to the SEA on Monday, the group notified us of the hack, but would not provide details about how it accomplished it. It appears the SEA did not actually access Obama’s social media accounts, but altered the links in the posts by tampering with the URL shortener service for BarackObama.com.”

Earlier we published a report that the SEA claimed responsibility for hacking the donate.barackobama.com page .

” The group appears to have had some form of access to BarackObama.com since Sunday night, when a page on the site redirected to a page that read “Hacked by SEA,” as first reported by The Blaze.

In a past interview via the same email address, supposed members of the SEA provided us with information about their goals and past attacks.

The links had not been fixed at time of writing, around 1:20 p.m. ET. This is a developing story and we will update as we learn more.”

As of 3:30 ET the links appear to be back under the control of OFA . Gizmodo has more about the attacks .

A HACKER GROUP JUST COMPROMISED A PAGE ON BARACK OBAMA’S WEBSITE

” A page on President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign website appeared to have been compromised by a hacking organization Sunday evening. The page, donate.barackobama.com, temporarily redirected users to a website, sea.sy/indexs/, appearing to belong to hacking group Syrian Electronic Army. “Hacked by SEA,” the website that users were redirected to read.”

Hackers Hijack CBS To Claim Obama Involvement In Boston Bombings

” The mainstream media’s refusal to report on images showing private military operatives on the scene of the Boston bombings carrying heavy backpacks prompted hacking group the Syrian Electronic Army to take matters into their own hands by hijacking CBS 60 Minutes’ Twitter account and sending out tweets exposing unanswered questions behind this week’s attacks.

“The attack occurred while a “48 Hours” special about the Boston Marathon bombings was airing on the same network,” reports Boston.com.

The tweets sent out by the group mainly focused on the Obama administration’s support for Al-Qaeda militants in Syria, but also brought attention to an issue which has been subject to a corporate media blackout since it first emerged – the presence of numerous identically dressed men who were caught on camera immediately before and after the Boston bombings wearing black backpacks and behaving as if they were engaged in some kind of security exercise.

“The actual Boston bombers caught on camera, professionals under US regime protection,” one of the tweets stated. “The US government is hiding the real culprit of the Boston bombing,” added another.”
