Gruber Uber Alles

” The Blaze’s Benjamin Weingarten interviewed Mark about his new book The [Un]documented Mark Steyn. Along the way they also discussed Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber, whose smug, confident contempt for the people Steyn suggests is the acme of liberal technocrat condescension. Lots of other subjects, big and small, are covered in this conversation. We think you’ll enjoy it. Just click below to listen: “

Counting Down The Top Glenn Moments Of 2013: Celebs Making Headlines For The Right Reasons

” We’re kicking things off with one of the biggest stories on TheBlaze.com this year – a story that ended up being quite surprising to Glenn and most viewers – Ashton Kutcher’s acceptance speech at the Teen Choice Awards. Wait… why is THAT the biggest story of the year? In front of a crowd of adoring teens, Kutcher gave a stirring speech about the value of hard work, kindness, and generosity. The message went far beyond the teeny bopper crowd in attendance and ended up setting the internet on fire.”

SURVIVORS OF RAPE SPEAK OUT AGAINST GUN CONTROL:

‘I WAS DENIED THE ONE EQUALIZING FACTOR THAT I HAD’

disarmed rape survivors

” Included on the panel was Amanda Collins, who was raped at gunpoint in a garage situated on her college campus. Her attacker, James Biela, had already raped two other women and murdered a third. He is now serving his sentence on Death Row.

It can and has certainly been argued that Collins, who was trained in the proper use of guns from childhood, could have stopped her attacker had she been carrying a weapon, and perhaps even saved other lives Biela would target next. According to Beck, Collins did in fact own a gun and had a concealed carry license but it was illegal to carry the firearm on her college campus.

“I was denied the one equalizing factor that I had,” she said.

Another panelist, Kim Corban Weeks was attacked and raped in her own home by an intruder. She escaped after convincing her attacker that she would not report the crime, but eerily, he remained at her residence to speak with her for an hour after the incident. Eventually he was apprehended and is now serving 24 years to life. Weeks is now an avid supporter of gun rights and is married to a police officer.”

” Rep. Allen West is leading by more than 300 votes in Palm Beach County, Fla., a hopeful sign for the Tea Party favorite fighting for his political life after Tuesday’s election, a source told TheBlaze.

No winner has been declared in the congressional race between the Republican West and his Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy, though Murphy had a 2,456-vote lead in the unofficial vote total.

But a Republican observer who has been monitoring the counting process said West pulled ahead in Palm Beach County on Thursday as the initial count continues. Ballot printing errors led to ballots that could not be fed through scanners in some areas, so Florida election workers have been forced to reproduce their contents onto new ballots that can be read properly, the observer said. As the votes are counted for the first time, West has taken a slim lead.”

… AND ARE NOW ENDORSING ROMNEY

” According to Editor & Publisher, Republican Mitt Romney is stunning the newspaper world, earning 112 endorsements from editorial boards around the country compared to the President’s 84.  Most large market newspapers like the The New York Times and The Washington Post have stuck with Obama, but have ran less than glowing assessments of his accomplishments.  So while a newspaper endorsement may not mean what it once did,  these conversions could be telling of a national trend. “

— AND CAMPAIGN CLAIMS IT‘S ’SOLD OUT’

Obama Campaign Removes Obama Flag Poster From BarackObama.com

“Last week, TheBlaze told you about a controversial flag poster that was being sold over on BarackObama.com. The image, deviating from the traditional U.S. flag design, included the president’s well-known campaign logo in place of the flag’s 50 stars. After receiving quite a bit of attention and conservative critique, the poster now appears to have been taken down from Obama’s re-election web site.”

” Feds Drop Criminal Case Against
Sheriff Joe Arpaio

” Federal authorities announced Friday that they’re closing their
abuse-of-power investigation into Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona without filing charges against him.

Authorities were investigating America’s self-proclaimed toughest sheriff for his part in failed public corruption cases against officials who were odds with him. Arpaio
brought cases against a judge and two county officials in 2009.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann Birmingham Scheel released a statement saying her office
“is closing its investigation into allegations of criminal conduct” by current and former members of the sheriff‘s and county attorney’s offices.”

Why does SSA and NOAA need ammo ?

” First the Department of Homeland Security ordered 450 MILLION rounds of ammunition , then the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) submitted an order
for 46,000 rounds of high powered ammo, and now Business Insider reports that the Social Security Administration is asking to
purchase 174,000 rounds of .357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point bullets. ”

There is something rotten afoot . Does anyone wonder why our domestic law enforcement agencys seem to be preparing for war ?

Best selling thriller writer Brad Thor talks with The Blaze about his new book ” Black List ” and the creeping “surveillance society ” that we now find ourselves in .

” “If I had been around with George Orwell back when he wrote ‘1984’ and I knew what I know now, he would have told me I was crazy,” Thor said, chuckling to himself before getting serious again. “Orwell couldn’t have predicted this.”

Flashback to 1975, he explained, when Sen. Frank Church appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and issued a dire warning about America’s invasive surveillance capabilities:

“[America’s intelligence gathering] capability at any time could be turned around on the American people and no American would have any privacy left. Such the capability to monitor everything: telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn’t matter. There would be no place to hide.” “

Check out 40 years of progress , both good and not so good , on earth as viewed from space by NASA’s satellites .

” NASA’s Landsat program on Monday celebrated its satellites providing the longest ever continuous view of Earth. For 40 years, the satellites have been recording from space a view of what’s going on with Earth,
capturing natural land changes as well as a slew of human activity including population changes and farming.

According to NASA, the program provides “direct societal benefits” as it pertains to “human and environmental health, energy
and water management, urban planning, disaster recovery and agriculture.” Wired describes the program’s images as the “most
historically significant images of Earth from space.” “

“Just a Blogger” Strikes Again

The Blaze

” Last week, Michelle Malkin stoked the conservative fire after she challenged Juan Williams for calling her “just” a blogger. But if that was stoking the fire, what she did Wednesday night on “Hannity” to liberal Tamara Holder was torching the place with napalm.

Malkin was a guest along with Holder on a segment talking about the day’s Fast and Furious news (Obama granting executive privilege and Holder being held in contempt). About three minutes in, Holder tried to use the liberal talking point that the entire operation was really started under the Bush administration (the “blame Bush” mantra is really popular these days). That’s where things first got tense, after Holder scolded Hannity who tried to make a point and told him, “No no, let me finish. Give me the same amount of time you give all your Republican friends.” “
