Kerry To Sign UN Arms Treaty, Despite Senators’ Opposition

” Secretary of State John Kerry plans to sign a controversial U.N. treaty on arms regulation on Wednesday, a senior State Department official told Fox News — despite warnings from lawmakers that the Senate will not ratify the agreement.

A State official said the treaty would “reduce the risk that international transfers of conventional arms will be used to carry out the world’s worst crimes,” while protecting gun rights.

“The treaty builds on decades of cooperative efforts to stem the international, illegal, and illicit trade in conventional weapons that benefits terrorists and rogue agents,” the official said.

U.S. lawmakers, though, have long claimed that the treaty could lead to new gun control measures. Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., one of the most vocal opponents of the treaty, sent a letter to Kerry declaring it “dead in the water,” since a majority of senators has gone on record against the agreement.”

US Helps Advance UN Arms Treaty

“The U.S. Mission to the United Nations helped move a controversial arms trade treaty on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after President Obama won reelection.

The Obama administration was widely blamed by treaty advocates for derailing the effort back in July when it asked for more time amid growing opposition from Republicans and pro-gun-rights Democrats who are worried the treaty would affect the sale of civilian weapons in the United States. Fifty senators — including eight Democrats — signed on to a letter at the time signaling their opposition to the treaty.

The U.S. Mission said the timing of the vote had nothing to do with the election. They said it was initially scheduled for last week but was delayed because of Hurricane Sandy.

“Our objectives for the ATT have not changed,” a Mission official told The Hill. “In particular, we seek a treaty that contributes to international security by fighting illicit arms trafficking and proliferation, protects the sovereign right of states to conduct legitimate arms trade, and meets the concerns that we have been articulating throughout.  As we have made clear, we will not accept any treaty that infringes on the constitutional rights of our citizens to bear arms.”

Be Ready Folks , This Is Just The Beginning , Now That Dear Leader Has ” more flexibility “

Best News we’ve heard all day . Of course it should be at least 47 against without any arm twisting at all . The fact that it isn’t unanimously opposed on the right side of the aisle is indicative of the need to clean house in both directions .

” The Law of the Sea Treaty now has 34 senators opposed and thus will not have the Senate votes for ratification, a key opponent of the treaty announced Monday.

Critics of the treaty had argued that LOST would require the U.S. to subject its sovereignty to an international body, require U.S. businesses to pay royalties for resource exploitation, and subject the U.S. to unwieldy environmental regulations as defined in the treaty.

“4 additional senators have joined in opposition to LOST, including Mike Johanns (R-NE), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Rob Portman (R-OH) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA). With 34 senators against the misguided treaty, LOST will not be ratified by the Senate this year,” Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, said in a statement on his website. “

Note DeMint’s warning ” will not be ratified …THIS YEAR ” . The need for continued pressure has not subsided . The battle against statism doesn’t end .

Call your congressman and find out where they stand on this blatant threat to American sovereignty . Anything that Kerry is in charge of can be counted upon to be against our best interests as a sovereign nation . Say no to Globalist government . There is a reason for American Exceptionalism . If you doubt our word , think of how Ronald Reagan felt about LOST

“President Ronald Reagan so strongly opposed the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea that he didn’t just not sign the treaty, he very publicly refused to sign it. He also dismissed the State Department staff that helped negotiate it. And in case anyone didn’t get the message, Reagan sent special envoy Donald Rumsfeld on a globe-trotting mission to explain his opposition and urge other nations to follow suit.”

As a rule it is safe to say that if the UN is supporting something then the US is destined to be the one that pays the price .

“These hearings are intended to show that Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Kerry allowed conservatives to have their say before the lame duck strategy is implemented. The deck has been stacked, with two hearings in favor and one with a 50–50 split between proponents and opponents. Kerry used a similar strategy the last time the Senate considered the LOST .  “

In other words , just like Obamacare , the people’s will be damned . Liberals , the great practitioners of ” midnight legislation”

Don’t Get LOST

Be sure and make a stink to your Senator . We don’t want to get LOST.

No UN treaties at all . These things are just blatant attempts to subvert our Constitution .
