‘American Sniper’: AFI Fest Review

” A taut, vivid and sad account of the brief life of the most accomplished marksman in American military annals, American Sniper feels very much like a companion piece — in subject, theme and quality — toThe Hurt Locker. Starring a beefed-up and thoroughly Texanized Bradley Cooper as we’ve never seen him before, Clint Eastwood’s second film of 2014 is his best in a number of years, as it infuses an ostensibly gung-ho and patriotic story with an underlying pain and melancholy of a sort that echoes the director’s other works about the wages of violence. Unlike The Hurt Locker, however, this Warner Bros. Christmas release should enjoy a muscular box-office career based on the extraordinary popularity of its source book by the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, Cooper’s star status and its “God, country, family” aspects that will draw that part of the public that doesn’t often go to the movies.

The gun — along with its significance to the United States, past and present — has been Eastwood’s most frequent co-star since the beginning of his career and has played a major role in most of his best films, from the Westerns and the Dirty Harrys to the war dramas. As the title suggests, a gun — or, more precisely, an extremely high-powered rifle — shares the screen with Cooper here, although it is not at all fetishized in the manner that weapons are in the book. “

Rob O’Neill Named As SEAL Team Six Hero Who Shot 9/11 Mastermind Three Times In Head

In action: A rare picture of O'Neill as a serviceman shows him in uniform in Liberia, where the Navy was involved in operation to stabilize the war-torn country

” The Navy SEAL who shot Osama bin Laden dead in the special force’s most famous operation can be named today.

The Navy hero is set to give a full interview to Fox News later this month and waive his anonymity but MailOnline has established that he is Rob O’Neill, a highly-decorated veteran who quit after 16 years service.

In an exclusive interview Rob’s father, Tom O’Neill, tells MailOnline, ‘People are asking if we are worried that ISIS will come and get us because Rob is going public. I say I’ll paint a big target on my front door and say come and get us.’

Rob O’Neill, 38, is a former member of SEAL Team Six who has been portrayed on screen in Zero Dark Thirty, Captain Phillips and Lone Survivor.

He is one of the most distinguished members ever of the elite force – but now faces being frozen out of its circles for revealing its most closely-held secrets.”

” O’Neill was personally congratulated for killing bin Laden – in his account at close range with three shots to his forehead – during the SEAL raid on Abbottobad, in Pakistan, on 2 May 2011.

Questions have previously been raised over the exact narrative of how bin laden came to die, although the dispute centers on an alternative account which claims O’Neill shot him once, leaving him mortally-wounded and the terrorist was killed by two other SEALs with further shots to the chest rather than forehead.

O’Neill’s decision to speak out was prompted by losing some of his military benefits by quitting the SEALs after 16 years rather than staying for a full 20 years of service.

Today details of his extraordinary military record can be disclosed.

O’Neill grew up in Butte, Montana, a former copper mining boomtown that has now fallen on hard times.

Tom O’Neill lives in a single story home with a garage full of stuffed animals — including a bear, moose, caribou, big horn sheep and several deer — shot by the two men. A full stuffed kodiak bear has place of pride in his living room.

O’Neill has said the basic reason he became a SEAL was a teenage romance gone wrong. At 19 he went to a Navy recruiter’s office in an attempt to get over his lost love.

But his father gave a different story in his exclusive interview with MailOnline. ‘We were going hunting and a friend asked us to take a guy who was a Navy SEAL with us,’ said Tom O’Neill, 65. ‘We were expecting someone who was 6 ft. 8 in. who could lift a house with his bare hands, but he was this normal guy. And Rob said if this guy could be a SEAL, then so could he.’

In total he was deployed on more than a dozen tours of duty in active combat, in four different warzones, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the course of those tours he undertook more than 400 separate combat missions.

He was decorated 52 times, leaving as senior chief petty officer. His decorations include two Silver Stars, four Bronze Stars with Valor, a Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, three Presidential Unit citations, and two Navy/Marine Corps Commendations with Valor.”

U.S. Navy SEAL Smuggled 10 Kilos Of Cocaine Into Miami

Bricks Of Cocaine

” A Navy SEAL who served in the military for 14 years and worked on covert anti-drug operations has admitted to smuggling 10 kilos of cocaine into the United States, according to records from the federal district court in Miami and a source familiar with his service.

The SEAL, Angel Martinez-Ramos, left active duty in 2010 but continued to deploy on missions as a reservist, court papers say. He had drug paraphernalia, including a money-counting machine and drug-testing equipment, at home, the documents say. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import cocaine and is currently in custody in Miami awaiting sentencing.

His case comes in the wake of another embarrassment for the elite SEALs, the commandos famous for killing Osama bin Laden. Earlier this year, two former members of the group died after consuming heroin and alcohol on a commercial ship they had been hired to protect from pirates.

Martinez-Ramos, 36, was arrested in December as he returned to the U.S. from a short trip to Aruba. Before his arrest, the Drug Enforcement Administration had received a tip that a U.S. service member would be arriving with a load of narcotics, documents show. Ironically, Martinez-Ramos had occasionally worked closely with the DEA on sensitive counter-narcotics missions in Latin America, a source familiar with his service record told BuzzFeed.”

6-Year-Old Boy Is A SEAL For A Day At Missouri Training Center

” Mason Rudder peppered bullets from a fully automatic M4 rifle into a car, charged through a field while firing an AR-15, and helped build and set off a wall bomb that blew the door off a building.

Though Mason is no war hero, he got to feel like one Sunday. He is 6 years old and dreams of joining the Navy SEALs.”

MASON RUDDER SEAL

” Mason’s parents, George and Suzanne Rudder, former St. Louis County residents who now live near Kansas City, surprised Mason for his birthday by driving across the state to a tactical training center near Farmington, Mo., to shoot and train with a former member of the Navy SEALs.

“ He didn’t know until today,” said Suzanne Rudder, 36. “I think he was just stunned when we got here.”

Mason was born with a genetic disorder (Escobar syndrome) that causes limited movement and a decreased range of motion, his parents say. Mason is about 3½ feet tall and weighs just 32 pounds. Mason’s sister, Haley, 7, also has the disorder; their brother, Collin, 9, does not.”

Former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell Opens Up About The Film Adaptation Of His Bestselling Book Lone Survivor

Marcul Lutrell Blaze

” On tonight’s Glenn Beck Program, Glenn welcomed his good friend, former Navy SEAL and author Marcus Luttrell and his wife Melanie for an emotional conversation about his bestselling book and now critically acclaimed film Lone Survivor. Glenn, who attended the premiere of the film with Marcus, has called it the greatest war film he has ever seen.

While Hollywood is certainly not known for being a pro-military community, the movie adaptation of Lone Survivor offers a very real look into the tragic story of Operation Redwing. A mission that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

Having authored the book, Marcus served as a consultant throughout the production process, getting to know the cast and crew very well and enlightening them to the realities of the situation. Glenn asked Marcus to describe that process.”

There is more here including more videos and this interview may also be of interest .

We saw “Lone Survivor” in a packed theater last night and all we can say is SEE IT !!! And while we are at it do not forget the story of Lt Michael Murphy as told in “Murph The Protector” .

Dear Glen

A Letter to My Friend Glen Doherty

” Glen,

I still can’t believe you punched out early on me, but glad to hear from the guys that you fought like a hero–no surprise there.

You should know, your efforts resulted in the rescue of over 20 Department of State personnel. They are alive today because of yours and Ty’s heroic action.

I know you hate funerals as much as I do but, the service in Winchester was humbling and inspiring. The people of Boston are amazing. I had to choke back the tears as me and the boys rolled through town, and thousands of people lined the streets to honor a hero and our friend and teammate. Seeing American citizens united around a hero, if only for a brief moment, restored my faith in humanity and that there’s other things more important in life than killing each other.”

REST IN PEACE WARRIOR                                                                                  HT/ THOR’S HALL

RIP Glen Doherty

Freedom Barbie

“Glen Doherty, a Navy Seal they raped and tortured before they drug him through the streets! We salute and thank you for your service and pray you RIP!!

Obama and The Democrats Left the Lad UNPROTECTED and him and 3 others were slaughtered by people funded by Obama and The Democrats.

Kind of hard to wrap you head around aint it?

Well think about this. When Michelle Obama goes shopping for clothes she has more protection and firepower with her than the Ambassador and the other three that were murdered.”
