As pointed out by Joel Pollak at Big Government, the latest CNN national poll of likely voters has some very good news for those of you following poll fundamentals, as opposed to topline percentages. Mitt Romney is has a commanding 22% lead among Independents. This is a post-Hurricane Sandy poll, so any talk of a big Obama bounce among Independents appears to be wishful thinking on the part of the Obama camp.
The following shows the voting choice for the various party affiliations:
Both Romney and Obama have locked up their core (though Romney has a slight advantage in party defection), but the difference in Independents is striking.
” Andy’s latest rant is sure to raise a smile. The great irony is that he identifies the problem with laser precision but is clueless as to the cause.
The Pew poll is devastating, just devastating. Before the debate, Obama had a 51 – 43 lead; now, Romney has a 49 – 45 lead. That’s a simply unprecedented reversal for a candidate in October. Before Obama had leads on every policy issue and personal characteristic; now Romney leads in almost all of them. Obama’s performance gave Romney a 12 point swing! I repeat: a 12 point swing.
Romney’s favorables are above Obama’s now. Yes, you read that right. Romney’s favorables are higher than Obama’s right now. That gender gap that was Obama’s firewall? Over in one night:
Currently, women are evenly divided (47% Obama, 47% Romney). Last month, Obama led Romney by 18 points (56% to 38%) among women likely voters.
Seriously: has that kind of swing ever happened this late in a campaign? Has any candidate lost 18 points among women voters in one night ever? And we are told that when Obama left the stage that night, he was feeling good. That’s terrifying. On every single issue, Obama has instantly plummeted into near-oblivion.”
“I’ve been exchanging emails all night with friends, sharing our thoughts on tonight’s presidential debate in Denver or — as I’ve come to refer to it — the Denver Smackdown. There were tons of observations, jokes, and predictions flying around, but my overall, quickie takeaway is that Romney ruled.
My favorite thing about tonight was that Governor Romney not only took the fight to President Obama, but he seemed to genuinely enjoy doing so. He had that fire in his eyes that it takes to win. But as assertive, even aggressive, as he was, he was still likeable. My husband watched and noted how polite the two were to each other. I had not really noticed because I was so caught up in, and somewhat surprised by, the fact that Romney came out swinging and never let up. But he was right about the politeness. Romney struck the perfect balance. He came across as a gentleman. He was forceful without being a bully. He was assertive of his territory (the time clock), without being rude. Romney was pitch perfect tonight. Just perfect.
And as perfect as Romney was, Obama was that bad. I already had a feeling this election would be a lot like Reagan – Carter. Obama has been behaving like a man in deep trouble. His surrogates have called Romney a felon, accused him of killing a woman with cancer, and even of dissing his garbage man. This isn’t a “Morning in America” campaign. This is the smell of desperation in the morning.”
“That scandal is Mitt Romney talking candidly with supporters at a private fundraising diner caught on video.
Long-time partisan hack David Corn is trying to get traction for a series of unremarkable secret Mitt Romney videos by distorting the actual words spoken on the video – leaving some out of his story at Mother Jones – to make a story appear more sinister than the videos on their own are. Here’s Corn’s partisan spin:”

“Actress Kyra Sedgwick might be tempting fate in Hollywood with a recent interview on the Tavis Smiley show on PBS where she scolded her industry for ignoring the great middle of the country.
Sedgwick was on the show discussing her recently concluded series The Closer on TNT and noted that the show was a great hit in the Midwest, but not in L.A. or New York City. At first she said she felt insulted at this ratings truth, but it wasn’t long before she realized that this wasn’t a bad thing at all.”

Rodney Graves at Wizbang puts forth his theory as to why the left , Obama and Elizabeth Warren in particular find nothing wrong with giving government credit for ALL advancement …
” The “Inconvenient Truth” was of
course his adoption of Elizabeth
“Fauxcahontis” Warren’s stated belief that no one can create a product or service without the benign assistance of Government.
In both Obama’s case and
Warren’s case, they clearly have cause to believe this as their life histories are replete with unearned accolades and advancement via entitlement. Both are the antithesis of advancement via merit, and
demonstrate just how little value there is to advancement via quota.”
Wizbang presents another reason to look upon Google with a jaundiced eye .
” Second Amendment, Schmecond
Amendment. Google wants you to know that it is thinking of your “safety” as it announces that it has banned anything to do with firearms on its Google Shopping
I guess all of our economic troubles have been solved ? No ? The budget has been passed ? No ? The truth about “Fast & Furious ” divulged ? No ? It’s no wonder when Congress is so busy with patrolling the locker rooms and grilling athletes about their personal habits . Congress and lies go together but its usually the pols doing the lying to the public and not the other way round .
Perhaps now that they have finished the oh so important task of trying to ruin Roger Clemens’ life they can get back to the job we pay them for … ruining ours .
“Roger Clemens beat the lying to Congress rap and was aquitted on all charges today. The case appeared to turn on the total unreliability of the star witness, former trainer Brian McNamee.”
Just unbelievable , but then again , we are in the era of “Hope & Change”
“The following is NOT a work of fiction. It did take place. It took place in the most liberty rich country in the history of the world. It didn’t happen in one of the old Soviet Eastern Bloc nations. It didn’t happen in Cuba or Venezuela. It didn’t happen in Iran. It happened here, in the United States of America.”
This is how citizens desiring to inquire about their own PUBLIC servants are treated nowadays , read on .
“Let me first begin by telling you about a man that I have come to know over the last week. Larry Keller is just a normal guy. He’s an average, hard working American trying to live his life the best way that he knows how. He operates a consulting business out of his home in Asheville, North Carolina. He cares about his country and he believes, like most of us here, that Americans have the right to question those in government that we may disagree with.
Over a month ago, when the EPA’s Al Armendariz “crucify” comments reached a boiling point, Keller began to inquire as to how he could contact Mr. Armendariz. Larry didn’t agree with his statements about the oil and gas industries and felt compelled to contact him by email. Like I said before, we all believe that we have that right.
Keller tried Googling Armendariz’s name to find his contact information, he ended up on a website that led him to contact, by email, a man by the name of Dr. David Gray who is the Director of External Affairs for the EPA. Larry Keller, average American, wrote a one sentence email to Dr. Gray which stated simply:
“Hello Mr. Gray-Do you have Mr. Armendariz’s contact information so we can say hello?”
That’s it. That’s all he said. He never heard back from Dr. Gray and I assume he went about his average life like anyone else would.
Then a little over a week after the Armendariz comments became public knowledge, on May 2nd to be exact, Larry Keller was visited by two individuals along with a uniformed Asheville Police Officer. The following is what transpired:”
