I post this on August 22, 2016; and our debt now exceeds nineteen trillion dollars! We have a Presidential Election approaching this November, and I believe Trump is far more inclined to do something about it. Hillary Clinton only talks about spending more money and doesn’t say one word to address the extraordinary nineteen trillion dollar debt. Sadly, so many Americans are so ensconced in their mindless cable television programming that they have no awareness of the
dire financial shape their country is in. George Orwell described the state of things precisely in his classic book “1984” when he said:
“So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves; like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina; they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern…Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling; filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.” …… George Orwell, “1984”
